About the Role

The Marketing Intelligence team marries research and analytics to generate insights that inform Uber's Brand and Product Marketing. This position will play a significant role in improving our understanding of our users, both on the supply side and the demand side, in our largest lines of businesses, Mobility and Delivery. We are seeking a Senior Survey Scientist with expertise in quantitative methods and a passion for using survey insights and analytics to understand consumer behavior.

What You'll Do

• Work with cross-functional partners to improve their decisions with analytics and survey research: understand the decision to be made, the evidence required to make that decision, and the analytics / research required to provide that evidence
• Conduct statistical analysis of survey and behavioral data, 1st and 3rd party, to develop insights on our users. Develop an understanding of demographic, behavioral and attitudinal trends and the general population
• Lead multi-stage data management process in each project, including data quality checks, data cleaning, data dictionary construction, statistical analysis and reporting
• Synthesize and communicate insights to cross-functional teams and persuade them to act on your recommendations
• Architect, execute and maintain a reliable in-app survey program to measure customer attitudes and perceptions about Uber and each of our lines of business
• Develop and run sample management and panel management policies / governance to ensure effectiveness of all of our surveys, in our apps and outside of them
• Design and supervise the execution of methodologies for sampling and weighting to improve the representativeness of all our surveys
• Provide thought leadership in issues and trends related to advances in survey and measurement methodologies

Basic Qualifications

• Master's degree in social science, statistics or related field, with emphasis on quantitative methods
• 4-6 years of work experience in a survey science or data science team working with survey data
• Excellent programming skills in SQL, R or Python.
• Expertise working with Hive or Presto

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in social science with emphasis in quantitative methods, statistics, or similar field
• Previous experience in survey science team or data science team working with survey data, in technology company
• Outstanding problem solving skills: understanding a business question, developing hypothesis tree, developing workstreams to address question, developing work plan, carrying out analyses, and synthesizing insights
• Outstanding communication: ability to explain analytics topics in plain language suitable for non-technical and non-analytical executives and cross-functional partners.
