Sr Strategy & Planning Associate, US&C Grocery & Retail

About the Role
Uber's mission is to help people go anywhere and get anything, and our Grocery & Retail unit is a fast-growing scaleup within Uber that enables consumers to get just about anything delivered through the Uber Eats app.
As the Senior Strategy & Planning Associate, you will be at the center of data-driven decision making for Uber's Grocery & Retail business in North America. You will lead the development of critical insights, frameworks, and analytical strategies to inform and guide business performance, strategic initiatives, and optimize operational execution.
What you'll Do:
- Business Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of market trends, the competitive landscape, and internal performance data within the Grocery & Retail vertical to inform strategic decisions and deliver actionable insights.
- Performance Tracking & Governance: Develop metrics and dashboards to track progress against goals for strategic initiatives and lead regular performance reviews to ensure that the initiatives are on track to achieve their objectives.
- Strategic Initiatives: Lead strategic initiatives end-to-end to enhance Uber's retail-related offerings. This includes managing projects like competitive pricing benchmarking, cost savings, and launching new programs or features.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with key cross-functional teams, including Operations, Product, Finance, and Marketing, to develop and implement initiatives that align with the overall strategy.
- Strategic & Business Planning: Contribute to the annual strategic and financial planning processes led by the Planning team. Support the development of strategic priorities and assist in translating them into actionable commercial plans underpinned by OKRs and reflected in the financial plan.
Basic qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or a quantitative field (i.e. Statistics, Data Science, Engineering)
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in a data-driven role within strategy, operations, e-commerce, tech, or consulting.
- Strong SQL proficiency: Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency in SQL and the ability to build and maintain robust strategic, financial and operational models.
- Project Management: Experience managing cross-functional projects and driving operational improvements with a track record of executing initiatives from planning to results.
Preferred qualifications
- Advanced Degree: MBA or other advanced degree in a relevant field.
- Industry Expertise: Experience in the retail or CPG industry
- Communication: Effective communicator with the ability to translate data and insights into compelling stories. Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations to diverse stakeholders and leadership.
- Business Acumen: Demonstrates strong business judgment and critical thinking skills to quickly identify high-value priorities and support the development of strategies to pursue them.
- Data Driven Mindset: Proven experience approaching data analysis from a structured, hypothesis-led basis, with the ability to create compelling and well-considered narratives and recommendations from the analysis and insights.
- High-Growth Environment: Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced environment (such as a tech company, startup, or consulting) where you've had to adapt quickly, tackle ambiguous problems, and collaborate across teams.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: A proactive, ownership mentality with a bias for action. Comfortable working independently when needed, and excited to innovate and continuously improve processes in an evolving space.
For Canada-based roles: The base salary range for this role is CAD$114,000 per year - CAD$127,000 per year.
