About the Role

We are looking for a Sr. Risk Operations Manager - LatAm who will be assessing, managing and minimizing fraud within the LatAm Risk Operations team.

This role is a unique opportunity to help expand our commitment to OCS (Operational Cost Structure) by investigating, mitigating and monitoring fraud trends, while protecting our organization, customers and business partners from financial losses and ensuring a safe and secure marketplace for all.

This operations-driven role calls for a combination of creative problem solving, detail oriented responsibility, risk & fraud knowledge and interpersonal ability to nurture and guide teams to take Uber as a platform (focus on Delivery), to the next level.

This role will contribute enormously to the sustainable growth of Uber.

What you'll do:
  1. Core focus: manage 2 individual contributors in charge of proactively identify and remediate Financial Fraud (Chargebacks, Did not Settle, Cash Arrears, Refunds and Appeasements, Promo Abuse) on the consumer and merchant side, with special attention to Grocery & Retail
  2. Strategy - Choose which projects the team should prioritize, and set a timeline to reach goals quickly. Act as support for the team Lead in strategic thinking and stakeholder management, ensuring financial losses remain below budget and increased impact of the Risk team is in line with the Delivery Org strategy and priorities.
  3. Develop & Optimize Processes - Develop and implement new risk mitigation solutions and frameworks that improve our ability to detect, measure and intervene against fraudulent activity, including better operational processes, automated systems and upstream design solutioning.
  4. Analytics - Analysis of databases using SQL or Python to review fraud related metrics to properly detect fraud and ensure high-quality experiences on the Uber platform.
  5. Product Improvement - Evaluate risk potential of new product features or business lines and inform decision-making at the design and roll-out stages.
  6. Ownership - Take ownership of sustainable growth in Latam and do everything you can to support and enhance the quality of our services; We expect you to be proactive and resourceful in order to remove road blockers and find creative solutions.

What you'll need:
  1. Problem solving - Being able to solve high-complexity problems by using logic, common sense and data not only by Identifying the root cause of a problem but also being capable of providing actionable insights and mitigation plans.
  2. Advanced in writing SQL queries for large data interpretation and the ability to derive insights from it. Mainly for peer review purposes.
  3. Technical experience in working with spreadsheets, graph and pivot table creation. Experience with managing and creating dashboards is a plus.
  4. Deep understanding of the Payments and Fraud ecosystem

Bonus Points if:
  1. Quantitative data analysis, deep actionable insights, modeling, and advanced test plan design and analysis experience.
  2. Capacity of understanding business decisions implications and their effects on the financials, particularly regarding risk / fraud topics.
  3. Advanced communication skills that will allow you to clearly explain and present your work and take a leadership role in building constructive debate
