2 days ago Tokyo, Japan

#GreatMindsDon'tThinkAlike At Uber, we take pride in the diversity of our people and their ideas. We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let's move the world forward together.

About the Role:

As a Growth Strategy & Operations Manager, you will be responsible for shaping the go-to-market strategy, enabling industry-unique new capabilities, and developing investment frameworks that are critical to the growth of Uber Direct. You will work closely with the General Manager, Vertical Heads, and Sales/Account Managers to deliver strategic projects that expand Uber Direct's footprint, accelerate merchant growth, and ensure strong financial performance.

About the Team:

Uber has recently launched Uber Direct, an on-demand delivery service for business customers. Uber Direct has the potential to support on-demand delivery across a range of customer verticals - restaurants, supermarkets, non-food retailers, and many more use cases yet to be discovered.

We are creating something brand new. Many of the problems we face are first-of-their-kind for Uber and require creative, scalable solutions tailored to diverse customers. We are able to solve them because we care deeply and #BuildwithHeart.

What the Candidate Will Do:

  • Scope out cross-vertical and vertical-centric strategic capabilities, owning the end-to-end design and implementation of solutions with both productised and operational approaches.
  • Manage highly complex projects and translate them into scalable enablement.
  • Create and manage comprehensive pitch materials covering new products and operational capabilities.
  • Lead sales enablement and training, and drive lead-generation activity to empower the Sales team to win accounts.
  • Govern the pricing of Uber Direct and develop the strategic pricing structure.
  • Design commercial programmes aligned to the merchant life cycle, accelerating merchant growth while analysing the effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Lead monthly forecasting cycles, track core OKRs, and coordinate with Sales and Operations to review and monitor budget spend.
  • Drive quarterly P&L review cycles and implement action plans to improve the bottom line.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with experience in data-driven decision-making. Ability to interpret data and exercise sound judgement in ambiguous circumstances.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial judgement. Comfortable with financial information and strategic trade-offs; able to prioritise opportunities based on feasibility and impact.
  • Full proficiency in English (required); Japanese language skills a plus
  • High adaptability to change, with the ability to execute quickly and effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Strategy, Operations, or Product Management in a fast-paced start-up, scale-up, or high-growth business.
  • Experience with SQL or other data analytics tools (preferred).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, can-do attitude.

Uber's mission is to reimagine the way the world moves for the better. Here, bold ideas create real-world impact, challenges drive growth, and speed fuelds progress. What moves us, moves the world - let's move it forward, together.
