About the Role

The Earner Access Enforcement team builds the core technologies that allows millions of earners around the world to make their living on Uber, and in turn powers all of Uber's consumer services. The mission of the team is to build and manage the earner status and eligibility evaluation engine to ensure complete safety and compliance across every single Uber trip and delivery worldwide.

As part of this mission, you will design and build a centralized access eligibility management system to define and evaluate requirements at Uber scale across every city, state, jurisdiction and country for Uber business verticals. We focus on building the platform to configure and enforce access requirements across millions of trips that occur on the Uber platform. The systems we build integrate with many systems at Uber, making us one of the most cross-functional teams at the company. We are looking for skilled engineers with a passion for solving complex problems and creating a lasting impact.

What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points

  1. Design, deliver and maintain systems that enforce trip-scale compliance and impact millions of Uber drivers, partners and riders.
  2. Convert requirements into architecture and deliverables, while maintaining operational efficiency and health.
  3. Provide technical leadership and partner with fellow engineers to architect, develop and scale Uber's Access Enforcement Platform.
  4. Write clear documentation so that other engineers can partner to contribute and deliver.
  5. Drive ongoing efficiency and reliability improvements that improve the quality of the systems.
  6. Mentor and support your fellow teammates.

---- Basic Qualifications ----
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  2. 3+ years of experience coding using general purpose programming language (eg. C/C++, Java, Python, Go, C#)
  3. Experience designing high throughput and low latency distributed systems
  4. Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to influence others within your team and outside your team.

---- Preferred Qualifications ----
  1. Familiarity with latest system architecture technologies, large-scale distributed systems and trends
  2. Experience building large-scale configuration management systems and rule engine

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$167,000 per year - USD$185,500 per year.
