About the Role:

Uber's mission is to help people go anywhere and get anything. Our Grocery & Retail unit is a fast-growing scale-up within Uber that enables consumers to get just about anything delivered through the Uber Eats app.

As the Senior Strategy & Planning Associate, you will sit at the center of data-driven decision-making for Uber's Grocery & Retail business in Japan. You will develop critical insights, frameworks, and analytical strategies that inform business performance, shape strategic initiatives, and optimize operational execution.

Your impact in role:

• Business Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of market trends, the competitive landscape, and internal performance data within the Grocery & Retail vertical to deliver actionable insights and inform strategic decisions.
• Strategic & Business Planning: Support annual strategic and financial planning, translating strategic priorities into actionable commercial plans underpinned by OKRs and manifested in the financial plan.
• Performance Tracking & Governance: Build metrics and dashboards to track progress against goals, and lead regular performance reviews to ensure initiatives stay on track.
• Program Management: Own end-to-end delivery of strategic initiatives, such as competitive pricing benchmarking or cost-saving projects, ensuring measurable business impact.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Product, Finance, Marketing, and other teams to design and execute initiatives aligned with overall business strategy.

Basic Qualifications:

• Strong experience in a data-driven role in strategy, operations, e-commerce, tech, or consulting.
• Candidates with less experience may be considered for a Strategy & Planning Associate role.
• Strong SQL proficiency, with the ability to build and maintain strategic, financial, and operational models.
• Proven experience managing cross-functional projects and delivering operational improvements from planning through to measurable results.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate data and insights into compelling stories for diverse stakeholders and leadership.
• Structured, hypothesis-driven problem solver with a track record of generating insights and clear recommendations from data.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the retail or CPG industry.
• Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced environment (tech, startup, consulting), with demonstrated adaptability and comfort with ambiguity.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action and ownership; able to work independently while innovating and improving processes
