Senior Staff Security Engineer - Product Security

About the Role

Uber is seeking a Senior Staff Security Engineer to join our Product Security team as our overall Tech-Lead. As a member of our team you will help us analyze, design and build industry-leading security technology into our products and services. You will dig into the complex world of building security technology in frictionless ways to determine mobile and platform software/hardware integrity, provide guidance to engineers, and ensure best practices are deployed across all security domains in the web, mobile, infra systems and application security space. This is a unique opportunity to work with both senior and new-grad engineers, working across many parts of Uber's tech stack to make a measurable impact on Uber's security posture. This role will report to the head of Product Security.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Uber's security research across web, mobile, infra systems, and application security space
  • Identify lacking security-sensitive functionality in Uber's applications and services, translating those control gaps into actionable engineering remediation plans and solutions
  • Design, build, deploy and drive adoption of next generation security tooling in conjunction with internal services and platform teams
  • Perform threat modeling, design, and code reviews to assess security implications and requirements for the introduction of new security systems and technologies
  • Drive initiatives with outside teams to re-engineer existing services and adopt the latest security technologies
  • Bridge security domain gaps through mentoring junior engineer

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • Professional experience of 10+ years in at least two security domains: web security, mobile security, cloud security, infra/compute systems security, identity & access management, or reverse engineering
  • Programming skills in one or more of: Go, Swift, Java, or Kotlin
  • Experience designing, implementing, and deploying production-quality security engineering systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's (or Ph.D) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • Ability to communicate ideas and proposals concisely to a wide-range of audiences
  • Ability to author both technical and non-technical documentation on a continuous cadence

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$265,000 per year - USD$294,000 per year.

For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$265,000 per year - USD$294,000 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$265,000 per year - USD$294,000 per year.
