About the Role

As the Senior Manager, Claims Management, you will be a key leader on our claims team, reporting directly to the Director, Claims Management. You will lead the Data & Damages portfolio as an individual contributor, guiding the strategy while collaborating with stakeholders across the claims organization to execute. We remove barriers to decision-making, encouraging a "Go Get It" spirit where you can leverage technology and AI tools to solve complex problems. This role is for a claims expert and leader who can go deep into medical specials on automobile injury claims, identifying tools and solutions to ensure appropriate claim evaluation, fraud identification, and effective resolution.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Portfolio Strategy & Vision: Guide the Data & Damages portfolio by staying deeply versed in the world of claims. You will go deep into medical specials on automobile injury claims, understanding marketplace strategies to identify trends and solutions. You will bring an open approach, injecting creativity and a willingness to "try on" and iterate to ensure appropriate claim evaluation and resolution strategies.
  • Leverage Data for Actionable Insights: You will know what data is needed and how to use it to drive decisions. You will spearhead the development of insights that allow us to manage severity and evaluate medical specials. You will serve as a crucial link between our business and technical teams, defining the business requirements for new data, reporting, and AI-driven insights to ensure every solution drives meaningful action.
  • Drive Operational Excellence & Severity Management: Use your deep claims knowledge and portfolio leadership experience to identify opportunities to continually manage severity and enhance the performance of our leading insurance partners. You will guide widespread strategies and process implementations aimed at improving core metrics. You are a self-starter, ready to run at Uber speed to build scalable, repeatable processes that prepare the organization for future challenges.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 7 years of professional experience in the insurance industry (carrier, broker, MGU, TPA, fleet, solutions partner, etc.) with a focus on auto or general liability injury claims.
  • Leadership: At least 3 years of leadership experience, demonstrating an ability to guide widespread strategies and process implementation across a claims portfolio.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A seasoned claims veteran with deep experience in setting claims strategy and a rich background in medical specials and damage valuation. You understand how to identify and manage trends in the marketplace to ensure effective resolution.
  • A "Go Get It" Spirit: A self-starter with a track record of driving impactful execution. You are comfortable guiding a portfolio as an individual contributor while influencing stakeholders across the organization to execute your vision.
  • An iterative mindset: You bring a willingness and ability to be creative in your approach to solving traditional claims problems, leveraging technology and AI to stay ahead of the curve.
  • A powerful lens for data: You have an expert understanding of what data is required to manage a portfolio and how to leverage it to drive and demonstrate impact with clear, measurable results.
  • A bias toward action: The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-impact environment that is constantly evolving at Uber speed, where barriers to improvement are removed.

For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$162,000 per year - USD$180,000 per year.
