This role sits within Uber's Mobility Marketplace team, focusing on Rider pricing and incentives. The team optimizes pricing and incentives to balance the market, maximize revenue, and adapt dynamic trip pricing to marketplace conditions. You'll work on some of Uber's most strategic marketplace challenges at a global scale, directly impacting the business.
---- What You Will Do ----
- Build and scale a high-performing team by attracting top talent and refining team structure. Mentor and coach ICs and managers for both technical and leadership growth.
- Lead Backend teams responsible for developing large-scale offline and realtime systems that serve Machine Learning models and Optimization flows.
- Shape long-term product and technical vision for the mobility marketplace.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Data Science, Product, and Business to drive technical direction in systems/frameworks.
- Communicate vision effectively, representing engineering in leadership forums and strategic discussions.
- Translate strategy into execution with practical quarterly OKRs.
- Drive operational excellence by establishing metrics for product and engineering performance.

---- Basic Qualifications ----
- 10+ years of overall experience and 4+ years of experience managing teams. Experience in managing 15+ engineers across different levels.
- Experience working with product managers and other engineering teams to identify, prioritize, and solve problems.
- Experience going through the full software cycle of requirements, design, coding/testing, rollout/deploy best practices in delivering world-class software and services.
- Experience developing large-scale offline and realtime systems.
- Strong people management skills including growing and mentoring engineers and tech leads.
- A computer science, or engineering undergraduate degree or equivalent experience, including hands-on software development experience.

- Strong organizational skills with experience in large, cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Experience managing managers.
- Familiar with applied Machine Learning and Optimization concepts and flows in production.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$257,000 per year - USD$285,500 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$257,000 per year - USD$285,500 per year.
