We have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced commercial attorney to join Uber's Autonomous Mobility & Delivery legal team as we develop the world's best platform for autonomous vehicles to go to market. This Senior Counsel will own a wide range of commercial matters including drafting and negotiating partner agreements that govern AV deployments across mobility and delivery use cases, integrating safety, data sharing, fleet management, intellectual property, regulatory and privacy principles. You'll also provide counseling on related product integrations, working closely with the business to launch autonomous vehicles across the Uber platform.

This position is part of the Uber legal team and can be located in San Francisco, New York, NY or Washington, DC.
What You'll Do
- Bring deep and varied commercial experience to the team, finding creative solutions to white space issues during drafting.
- Engage and negotiate with external partners, with full-view integration of risk and legal controls in commercial agreements and other outward-facing terms.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues on other legal and cross-functional teams, such as Safety, Product, Policy, Intellectual Property, Insurance and Privacy to provide comprehensive advice and create solutions that allow the business to move quickly and responsibly.
- Be an active and trusted business partner to the collaborative operations, engineering and business development professionals that launch autonomous services and products at Uber.
- Deploy your commercial perspective in reviewing product features and programmatic initiatives to ensure legal, regulatory, safety and risk-mitigation considerations are factored into development requirements and operational decisions.
- Support fleet and electrification commercial initiatives that align with Uber's goal of creating the best platform for fleets, period - electric or autonomous.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of eight (8) years of commercial legal experience in private practice, in-house and/or government.
- J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, vehicle fleets, or on-demand mobility or delivery platforms.
- At least two (2) years of in-house experience is highly preferred.
- Commercial and contracting experience in a regulated industry across multiple markets, delivering clear, actionable terms for clients, customers and partners.
- Excellent business judgment and high comfort level advising senior leaders on a wide range of legal issues related to technology and/or software platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative with both business leaders and legal groups, with strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner across functions to build consensus.
- Clear communicator, team orientated, and willing to take initiative while thinking two steps ahead.
- Confidence and flexibility to operate in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Inquisitiveness, along with the ability to spot issues, get to the heart of a matter, and articulate plans to address them.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$243,000 per year - USD$270,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$243,000 per year - USD$270,000 per year.
For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$243,000 per year - USD$270,000 per year.
