Security & Investigations Senior Data Analyst

About the Role:

Uber's Ethics, Compliance, & Security (ECS) organization seeks a highly skilled and self-directed Sr. Data Analyst to advance Uber's ability to assess and mitigate complex global risks through data-driven insights. The position will play a critical role in enabling strategic, risk-informed decision-making to enhance the resilience of Uber's global operations.

As a member of Global Security's Data Insights & Analytics (DIA) team, the Sr. Data Analyst will independently design and lead advanced analytics projects, provide analytical support to global strategic intelligence and security functions, and influence key decisions on physical and marketplace security, geopolitical business risk, and reputational exposure. The ideal candidate will bring a rare blend of research excellence and business acumen.

What You'll Do:

  • Own end-to-end delivery of complex analytics initiatives supporting risk analysis and mitigation planning in all areas of risk to our operations, people, and facilities (not only direct security threats, but also the general risk landscape including geopolitical and economic developments, organized crime, natural disasters, etc.).
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Strategic Analysis team to derive insights by integrating Uber's internal data with open-source intelligence (OSINT), other geopolitical indicators, and policy developments.
  • Lead development and maintenance of statistical and machine learning models that quantify security-related risks and impacts (physical, operational, regulatory, reputational, financial).
  • Conduct predictive modeling, causal inference, time series forecasting, impact evaluation, and other risk modeling as needed, tailored to security and geopolitical contexts.
  • Proactively identify and execute on opportunities to improve data quality; to streamline collection and reporting systems; and to improve the reliability and reduce the maintenance burdens of data pipelines, machine learning models, and other data program architecture.
  • Support cross-functional ECS initiatives on demand, acting as data subject matter expert and trusted technical advisor.
  • Coordinate and manage projects spanning teams and stakeholders globally; ensure timelines and deliverables are tracked, communicated to stakeholders, and successfully delivered.
  • Mentor junior analysts and promote data science best practices across DIA and other teams.
  • Use industry expertise to see around corners and build analytic products that meet Uber's future as well as current needs.
  • Above all, this role is expected to drive and develop novel solutions that address ECS' toughest data and analytic challenges through deep expertise in statistical methodology, matched with the practical domain knowledge and managerial experience to deliver results.
