Marketplace Pricing Coordinator - Southern Europe
About the Role
The Southern Europe Marketplace team is at the heart of the Southern Europe Rides business as it optimizes the marketplace and pricing within operations. Earners and riders are the people who connect in our marketplace - and we manage both sides, ensuring competitive pricing and accurate pick-up times for our riders, while also guaranteeing equitable earnings and optimal utilization for our drivers. Our goal is to strike the right balance between growth and profitability, and this requires judgment to make difficult trade-offs, blending algorithms with human ingenuity, and the ability to create simplicity from complexity.
What you will do
The pricing coordinator responsible for structural pricing within the Southern Europe Marketplace Team at Uber will have a significant role centered around data analysis and strategic decision-making. Here's a summary of their tasks and responsibilities based on the provided documents:
- Data Analysis and Business Strategy Formulation (70%): The coordinator will engage extensively in analytical tasks, gathering and interpreting data to inform pricing strategies. This will involve optimizing trips with inefficient pricing and adjusting fare accuracy to enhance the user experience for both earners and riders.
- Cross-functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Management (20%): They will collaborate with various teams including Driver and, Marketplace teams to ensure alignment on pricing strategies. Their role may also involve cross-functional engagement with policy, communications, product, marketing, legal, and customer support functions.
- Project Management and Planning (10%): This will include planning and managing projects that focus on pricing, ensuring efficient and accurate execution within a complex, constantly changing environment.
Additionally, the coordinator will face challenges such as maintaining a balance between growth and profitability and framing critical decisions that involve trade-offs.
What you will need
- Bachelor's degree in business, operations, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of professional experience, ideally in operations, analytics, project management, or in a fast-growing environment.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with internal partners.
- Superior organisational skills and attention to detail, with great follow-through on tasks.
- Solid analytical ability, comfort with both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
- Interest in and passion for Uber and improving user experiences.
- Proficiency in English.

What you'll ideally have
- Experience with SQL and other data tools (Excel, Tableau, Salesforce) is strongly preferred.
- Ability to lead projects independently, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience in an analytical function at Uber and multi-tasking in cross-functional settings.
- Background in project management and teamwork in startup or rapidly growing environments.
- Experience in data-driven decision making and reporting.
