Uber is seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and experienced Tax Operations Manager to lead our growing team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing complex tax operational processes, ensuring global compliance, and driving strategic initiatives. You will lead a team of tax operations specialists, foster their development, and collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams including Tax, Finance, Legal, Engineering, and Product, as well as external advisors, to implement scalable tax solutions and ensure adherence to evolving tax regulations.

What You'll Do
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Tax Operations specialists, fostering a high-performance culture and promoting continuous learning and professional growth.
- Strategic Oversight: Own and drive the strategic direction for Tax Operational processes, identifying opportunities for optimization, automation, and scalability across various regular reporting regimes.
- Global Compliance Management: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of tax and other regulatory-related transactions and reporting globally, ensuring adherence to international and local tax laws and regulations.
- Process Innovation & Automation: Champion and lead initiatives for significant process improvements, automation, and the implementation of new technologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders across Tax, Finance, Engineering, Legal, and Product, and Ops teams to align on regulatory operational strategies and deliverables.
- Policy & Documentation: Develop, implement, and maintain robust tax operational policies, procedures, and internal controls, ensuring clear documentation and adherence.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 6+ years of progressive experience in tax operations, accounting, or finance, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of tax operational processes and controls within a complex environment.
- Proficiency in SQL for advanced data querying, analysis, and reporting.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with a proven ability to interpret complex data and drive actionable insights.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, automation, and building analytical tools.
- Database management and architecture experience.
- Extensive experience with large tax engines.
- Experience in a rapidly scaling technology company.
- Proven track record of driving large-scale process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Deep knowledge of global e-invoicing, digital reporting, and other emerging tax compliance requirements.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$149,000 per year - USD$166,000 per year.
