About the Role

We have a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented lawyer to join our Australia & New Zealand Commercial Legal team that sits within our broader ANZ Legal Team. This role will be focused on supporting Uber's commercial deal strategy and transactional matters in Australia and New Zealand. This position will be based in Sydney or Melbourne and will report to Senior Legal Counsel, Head of Commercial Legal, ANZ

What You'll Do

  • Be a trusted adviser to the business, and provide legal and strategic input on a wide variety of commercial transactions for Uber's businesses in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Negotiate key strategic deals with large enterprise partners to support the growth of the ANZ Mobility and Delivery businesses.
  • Partner with the ANZ Mobility and Delivery businesses to help shape their commercial deal strategy.
  • Collaborate with Sales teams on tender documents and RFPs for key deals and opportunities.
  • Work closely with legal colleagues including our consumer legal team and antitrust legal team on matters arising from large strategic deals.
  • Advise on a broad range of legal and commercial issues that arise from our partnerships with third parties in ways that are practical, commercially-focused and future thinking.
  • Maintain and update our User Terms, Merchant Terms and Driver Partner and Delivery People Terms as needed.
  • Create and maintain playbooks and implement initiatives to improve the efficiency of the contracting process, including through the use of AI.
  • This is a hands-on role and you'll be expected to handle significant and complex legal matters with short turnaround times.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years post-admission experience, qualified to practice in Australia. In-house experience is preferred.
  • Proven track record of drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and advising on a range of legal and commercial issues.
  • Experience in dealing with competition and consumer law issues is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (with a high level of emotional intelligence).
  • Demonstrated effectiveness operating in complex organizational environments with strong stakeholder management skills and self-starter qualities
  • Comfortable in working with shifting priorities, ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
  • Self-starter and self-sufficient.
  • Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics and accountability.
