About the Role

The Lead, Public Safety Liaison, ANZ, will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with law enforcement and public safety agencies, all while ensuring alignment with our core principles of safety, privacy, and transparency. This role involves managing day-to-day engagement with police forces, providing support during critical incidents, and offering guidance to the business around community safety. The Lead will be a key contributor to the team, completing both routine and spontaneous tasks while operating with a high degree of autonomy to achieve our public safety objectives.

---- What You'll Do ----

  1. Act as a key point of contact for law enforcement and public safety agencies, ensuring a collaborative relationship while promoting Uber's strong commitment to safety as well as the protection and privacy of our users.
  2. Ensure the safety of our platform by effectively responding to critical incidents on behalf of the business as well as collaborate internally and cross-functionally to identify actions to reduce risk, and minimise threats to our people and places
  3. Engage with external partners to foster strong relationships and travel as required to conduct training on how investigations can be supported in a legal and ethical manner, attend conferences and present data as required in criminal trials.
  4. Obtain accurate and timely incident updates, produce post-incident reports and briefing notes for escalation.

---- What You'll Need ----
  1. 8+ years of law enforcement experience and being comfortable interacting with Law Enforcement & Public Safety officials at all levels;
  2. Experience in communicating findings orally and in written products;
  3. Skilled in various computer systems and internet technology (Mac, Google, online research, etc.);
  4. Ability to travel within the region as needed and be able to work non-traditional hours on short notice.

---- Preferred Qualifications ----
  1. 12+ years of law enforcement experience;
  2. Previously designated as a Detective with significant investigative experience;
  3. Strong computer literacy with knowledge of SQL and big data analytics.
