About the Role
Uber is looking for an exceptional, business-oriented attorney to join its Global Competition Team. The Global Competition Team advises the company on competition and antitrust matters around the world, in the 70+ countries where Uber operates. This includes counseling on mergers & acquisitions, strategic investments, commercial partnerships, product development, and ordinary course business strategies. The team also oversees antitrust compliance, litigation, responses to government inquiries, and general antitrust advocacy matters. - Collaborate with partners throughout Uber Legal to provide clients with expert legal advice and guidance on a wide range of competition and antitrust issues across Uber's various business units with a focus on EMEA markets.
- Work closely with regional Uber Legal teams to ensure business strategies are implemented in accordance with local competition/antitrust laws and regulations
- Advise Uber Corporate Legal and Corporate Development Teams on potential mergers & acquisitions and other strategic partnerships and investments
- Support on competition/antitrust litigation and related matters
- Assist in responding to governmental and other third party inquiries
- Develop and conduct training materials on competition/antitrust issues
- Oversee and manage outside counsel workflow, budget and spending
- Collaborate with the Uber Compliance Team to support global competition/antitrust compliance
What You'll Need
- Qualified to practice law in the EU or the UK
- 5-7 years of legal experience, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in competition/antitrust law
- Excellent legal research and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with both business stakeholders and cross-functional partners
- Ability to juggle multiple projects at a time
Preferred Qualifications
- In-house or demonstrated direct client counseling experience,
- Experience with government enforcers/regulators
- Experience across a range of competition/antitrust matters, including mergers & acquisitions, investigations, litigation and corporate counseling
- Superior analytical skills, strategic problem solving, and innovative thinking
- Self-motivation with a desire to take the initiative and think two steps ahead
- Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and accountability
