What You'll Bring:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management/Data Engineering, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT lead roles focusing in data architecture, design and delivery in a global organization.
  • Strong background in data solutions development, application development, quality assurance, change/release management, and control processes.
  • Expert knowledge in the key principles and processes of Data Engineering and Data Management (Governance, Architecture, Modelling, Reference and Master Data, Integration, Storage, Quality, Business Intelligence).
  • Hands on experience with data engineering concepts and tools such as ETL, data modelling, data lake / data warehouse / ODS / database, data catalogue, reference data, master data management, etc.
  • Expertise in Ab Initio is an asset.
  • Migration or new build on cloud experience is preferred.
  • Experience leading or working on agile delivery teams and production support.
  • Tenured experience within large financial institutions, financial arms of insurance companies, or credit bureaus is a must-have.
  • Track record and passionate about leveraging technologies to drive innovation and efficiency to enable business objectives.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to align IT strategies with business objectives.
  • Expertise across the full technology stack. Passionate about data and highly complexed environments.
  • Deep understanding in Cloud (multi-cloud), Data and AI technologies and their practical applications is a definite asset.
  • Highly analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work off regular office hours to enable collaboration across global teams, and for production issue management or implementation support.
Impact You'll Make:

The Sr. Lead Data Engineer of Global Technology GT Canada is a newly created role reporting to the Head of Data Engineering. The Sr. Lead Data Engineer will be accountable for data engineering and data management in GT Canada with an immediate focus to capture, assess and develop the technology data solutions.

This position requires a solid track record of technical data expertise, preferably in the financial sector. Also, requires experience working in a global matrixed organization, highly skilled in collaboration across functional units (business/products, legal, compliance, finance, operations) and with various global technology groups.

This is a hands-on lead role requiring experience leading large data transformation/modernization programs with the objectives to increase efficiency, increase stability & resiliency, reduce risks, and increase productivity of project delivery with respect to data.

Critical skills required to be successful include excellent technical expertise in data engineering & data management, strong communication and collaboration skills. Excellent understanding of data privacy, regulatory and compliance requirements for technology solutions in relation to data (internal and external).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver data engineering practice in Canada by having a clear understanding of business value and customer needs, and the ability to translate these needs into the architecture, design, build and delivery of data solutions while leveraging/reusing TU global/international solutions.
  • Create, maintain, and own data solutions, and leading the ongoing delivery and management of data.
  • Work closely with product owners, architects, analysts and engineers to elaborate business and technology requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional teams from ideation to launch of data solutions ensuring coordination between data and application platforms, solution architecture, information security standards, operational processes, and data governance so that the final product meets business, technology, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive KPIs critical to software and data quality.
  • Communicate effectively with the business and technology stakeholders setting expectations of any operational impacts of new/changed data solutions.
  • Own and manage metadata, data quality, standards, governance, and metrics for Canada leveraging Canada GT, GIO, InfoSec, Ops and US data acquisition & services teams.
  • Engage and collaborate with partners and stakeholders to gather input and communicate plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Perform relevant Data Stewardship activities when necessary.
