Who we're looking for

Toyota's Prototype Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Prototype Assembly Technician.

Reporting to the Prototype Development Assembly Technician Manager, the primary responsibility of this role is to support planning and preparation for Prototype Assembly builds, lead a team of 3 to 6 North American Manufacturing Center (NAMC) team members during large CV builds and participate in vehicle assembly during small retrofit builds. Support in Evaluation processes for RQA, serviceability and water leak as needed.

What you'll be doing

  • Station leader for current and future major model builds - this includes creating detailed operating plans, training TMs to perform Assembly processes and communicating vehicle concerns to Assembly project leaders
  • Assembly and retrofitting vehicles for major/minor model changes
  • Identify, document and initial troubleshooting of issues during assembly
  • Perform vehicle evaluations in relation to routing quality, serviceability, and water leak
  • Support Weld, Paint and Fabrication processes as needed
  • Standardize internal processes, conduct reflection, and propose continuous improvement activities
  • Participate in problem solving activities - Toyota Business Practice (TBP), Quality Circles and JKK
  • Safety Management System ownership

What you bring

  • 3 years automotive prototype assembly experience or a combination of automotive experience and advanced technical training
  • 1 year experience Team leadership/Development
  • Experience using CAD software to manipulate vehicle data (CATIA, XVL, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel for data/scheduling, PowerPoint for creating presentations and Word for creating weekly reports)
  • Experience performing vehicle evaluations against documented standards

Added bonus if you have

  • Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing vehicle electronics
  • Experience working with KPIs for goal setting and process management
  • Experience using SMS, SMS-BR or W-IPS
  • Experience using AutoCAD for shop floor layout
