Toyota's Integrated Vehicle Systems (IVS) Division is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Automated Driving Systems (ADS) Senior Engineering Manager.

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead a team of engineers in discovering and realizing the next innovative ADS technologies collaborating with internal and external partners to develop and deploy data pipelines and analytics to ensure ADS technology performance. Lead divisional efforts to Kaizen and Deploy Process Automation to reduce Muda, and team member burden while reducing product Leadtime.

Reporting to the General Manager in IVS's Technician & Development Tools Department this position will Drive Efficiency to Create Value Contribution by reducing: MUDA, Team Member Burden, and Development Lead-time while supporting ADAS System Evaluations with Data Pipeline and Performance Analytics

What you'll be doing

  • Managing and leading process and system performance (data and analytics) utilized in Automated Driving Systems (ADS) and Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS), from concept phase to production phase.
  • Leading collaboration with internal and external partners to create ADS/ADAS Data technology roadmaps for Data Pipelines and Analytics system for the US.
  • Arranging and leading design reviews, technical presentations, and demonstrations to Toyota executives.
  • Kaizen & Automate software process to further increase efficiencies and synergies within the group and department.
  • Maintaining a work environment which allows team members to have fun while developing new ADS technologies and tools.
  • Mentoring team members to increase their process, data and analytical technical capabilities.
  • Negotiating annual job contracts will allow the group to continue to innovate ADS/ADAS technologies.
  • Negotiating and managing within group budgets, targets, and schedules.
  • Acting as a technical and software advisor to other groups within IVS and TMNA.
  • Representing Toyota at Industry consortia, conferences, and trade shows.

What you bring

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of direct reports in design projects including process automation, data pipelines, and analytics for ADS/ADAS products.
  • Passion and experience in the design, architecture, implementation and management of complex software systems, and leading concepts to production development of those systems.
  • 5+ Years working on complex software projects in Python, C, Cloud technologies, etc.
  • History of innovative ideas that you or your team developed into tangible products for internal or external customers.
  • Experience leading internal and external collaboration projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Clear and concise presentation skills, with an eye to international audiences.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Master's, bachelor's degree, in engineering or computer science or equivalent.

Added bonus if you have

  • Strong engineering background in for system data collection, data transformation and visualization to problem solve system development issues.
  • Experience working and communicating in multicultural and multinational companies.
  • Japanese language capability.
  • Ph.D. degree in engineering or computer science.
  • 5+ Years of Engineering Management Experience.
  • 5+ Years of Toyota Experience.
  • Completed TBP through panel.
