Who we're looking for

Toyota's CSRM group is looking for team members who are passionate about technology and interested in joining a collaborative and highly motivated team as a Senior Engineer - Product Cybersecurity Group.

The primary responsibility of this role is to develop foundational security software components, cryptographic services, and technology with the highest quality and security to protect the connected vehicle ecosystem.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the person in this role will join the Product Cybersecurity Group to deploy security solutions for applications in a more connected vehicle environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide value-added research on automotive cybersecurity software and analysis to counsel management, solve connected vehicle ecosystem cybersecurity problems, and advising Managers as a strategic business partner.

    • Supports to provide value-added research & analysis, advice/counsel to management.
    • Makes basic contributions to management and solves intermediate to complex business problems.
    • Acts as a strategic business partner to Managers.
  • Navigate through situations/issues, utilizing analytical, interpretive, and constructive thinking to act as a strategic business partner to Managers.

    • Expected to face situations/issues that require analytical, interpretive, and constructive thinking.
  • Identify opportunities and create solutions with a quality and security-first approach for connected vehicle foundation security software from development through implementation that have a measurable and continuous impact on company progress.

    • Takes a 'seasoned functional' approach to identify opportunities and create solutions.
    • Leads mid-size projects from development through implementation that have a measurable impact on company progress.
    • Develop foundational security components and service software following Toyota SDLC process and security best practices.
    • Ensure the quality of the software is kept to the highest standard.
    • Make sure the software meets the highest security standards.
    • Timely escalation of any risks/opportunities as appropriate

What you bring

  • Strong relevant software development experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher CS, EE, CECS or equivalent, or equivalent professional experience
  • Subject matter expert in all phases of software development lifecycle developing security software, providing seasoned functional content knowledge and expertise.

    • Demonstrated experience providing advanced analytical, interpretive, and consultative services on mid to large-scale cloud, mobile, and/or IoT security software systems.
  • Hands-on software development experience with software and services in cloud and mobile environments.

    • Understanding of programming languages such as Rust, Go, C++, C, Java, or other related languages within cloud, or mobile software development.
    • Understanding of software and security through various software development and cybersecurity technology and best practices.
  • Contributions to solving problems within the team and projects.

Added bonus if you have

  • CISSP, CISA, and/or relevant cybersecurity certifications.
  • Knowledge of applied cryptography, cryptographic algorithms, and proofs.
  • Domain expertise in cloud security, embedded security, and mobile application security.
  • Domain expertise in automotive industry quality, regulatory, product planning, or manufacturing processes.
  • Customer service and relationship management.
  • Self-education to continuously learn and invest in skills and knowledge relevant to the team and the position.
  • Going above and beyond by understanding the business, anticipating needs, and delivering results that meet all quality expectations.
  • Pro-active management and creation of tasks, definitions of done, and deliverable dates for tasks requested of you and projects you manage.
  • Fluent in Japanese (reading, writing, speaking) for business and technical discussions.
