Who we're looking for
Toyota's Plastic's Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure vehicle/process integrity through systems development and process management within the Plastics department.
Reporting to the Plastics PE Manager, the person in this role will support the Plastics Department's objective to lead chronic problem resolution and support quality improvement. The Senior Engineer will also work with Production Group Leaders, Managers, and other support groups to lead process cost reductions, productivity improvements, safety initiatives, and repeatable/sustainable processes.
This position is based in Georgetown, KY. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location.
What you'll be doing
- Lead quality, process, material, cost, productivity, safety, environmental, and equipment improvement initiatives
- Lead and support change management
- Provide daily process support for all needed groups
- Ensure vehicle and process integrity
- Lead new material introductions to ensure no negative KPI (Key Performance Indicators) impact
- Lead equipment and refurbishment projects and/or process changes
- Support production-initiated kaizen to ensure no negative KPI impact
- Question and investigate daily inquiries from production and/or maintenance
- Coordinate cross-department investigations
- Investigate perceived process and/or equipment problems utilizing careful and systematic analysis
- Report out identified problems, root cause, possible countermeasures, and recommended solutions to management
- Propose the best solution based on cost, time, feasibility, impact on production, and KPI targets
- Develop project proposals, strategies, operating plans, and Ringi's (Bottom-Up support and agreement for a decision or idea)
What you bring
- Bachelor's Degree or above, or 5 years of equivalent professional experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of SAP and Ariba Systems as it pertains to Procurement
- Microsoft Office Applications- intermediate proficiency (Excel, PPT, Word, Project)
- Experience & basic understanding of Toyota Way Principles of problem solving (Including TPS, TBP, Hoshin, OJD, JIT)
- Experience managing KPI's for Manufacturing or process improvement projects, including safety, environmental, quality, productivity, and cost
- Experience in leading major milestone projects for equipment and new model launches
Added bonus if you have
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Digital Engineering
- Design experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar CAD software, including the ability to read, interpret, and modify both 2D and 3D drawings.
- Experience with PLC Programming, including Ladder Logic, and the ability to troubleshoot and make programming changes
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI)
- Experience teaching robots in production processes and mechanical movement
- Previous Plastics Manufacturing Experience
