Who we're looking for

As part of the Operational Controls Department, a strong and effective Quality Assurance Program is foundational to achieving operational excellence. The QA Compliance & Controls Manager is responsible for leading the first line of defense quality assurance program across key banking operations, with an emphasis on residential mortgage loans, commercial loans, and deposit accounts.

This role manages a team of QA Analysts that is responsible for ensuring all applicable transactions are documented in compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. The Quality Assurance Manager drives continuous improvement through data-driven insights, root cause analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. This position will communicate testing and monitoring activities and outcomes to key stakeholders within the Bank and work to reduce compliance and operational risk for the organization.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a robust first line of defense Quality Assurance review program for banking operations areas with an emphasis on mortgage loans, commercial loans, deposit accounts, consumer compliance, and data integrity.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of QA Analysts: Set goals aligned with department strategies, assign and review work, provide training, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous learning. Evaluate team strengths and opportunities and work to build bench strength within the department.
  • Manage day-to-day Quality Assurance review activities including sampling, and testing to ensure compliance with bank policies, regulatory requirements, and product guidelines. Identify process and documentation gaps, operational risks, and control weaknesses. Provide timely and actionable reports to senior leadership with risk ratings and root cause analysis.
  • Leverage QA results and trend data to identify Muda, drive operational improvements, enhance controls, and improve customer experience across banking operations.
  • Ensure operational readiness for internal and external audits and regulatory exams through thorough documentation of QA results, review of procedures, and issues tracking. Support fulfillment of audit/exam documentation requests for operations areas as needed.
  • Work closely with the bank's Operations, Controls, Compliance, Internal Audit, and Product Management teams to resolve QA and audit/exam findings and implement corrective actions.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience (in similar field and/or industry)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
  • Self-starter with the ability to challenge and influence, build trusted relationships, deal constructively with conflict, problem solve/troubleshoot issues for themselves and others, and adapt to an environment involving multiple and simultaneous deliverables
  • Advanced knowledge of requirements for lending and deposit product compliance, processes, and controls.

Added bonus if you have

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience (in similar field and/or industry)
  • Compliance or Risk Management related certification coursework such as CRCM, CRVMP, CRM
  • Experience with QA tools, workflow systems, and banking platforms (e.g., Calyx Path, Black Knight, HMDA Wiz, Wholesale Intelligence (WI), Q2, Fiserv, Archer eGRC)
