Who We're Looking For

Toyota's Greensboro, North Carolina Battery Plant Manufacturing Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Manager - Production Planning (PPL)

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the production planning department for TBMNC. This manager will report to the Senior Manager of Production Control. Production Planning involves daily, monthly, and annual planning of volume across various production lines and gaining consensus of these plans with stakeholders including the TBMNC executive team, production managers, and related teams at our headquarters locations. The production planning team is also responsible for capturing results of the current plan, determining the root cause of gaps versus the plan, and recommending countermeasures to the management team on how to remedy the problems.

This manager role will need to go above and beyond to develop their understanding of battery production processes, supply chain, and customer's processes to proactively develop their ability to uncover & resolve concerns, to build the most effective launch & recovery plans, and establish the best processes for our greenfield operations.

The scope of projects will vary between standard model related changes, new line improvements, multi-department Kaizens, and plant wide operational improvement initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing and executing strategies for new model launch and other plant-wide project activity surrounding trial schedules, line-fill & ramp-up plans, and annual planning targets
  • Coordinating production activities between multiple divisions and multiple companies considering every phase of vehicle development through start of production
  • Problem solving issues that have potential to impact successful project or launch execution. Leading coordination across all departments, NA HQ & Global HQ to countermeasure, reflecting solutions to future projects to prevent recurrence
  • Leading, facilitating and presenting all aspects of complex project execution, including developing and leading the visualization and reporting of key performance indicators, master schedules, project status, problem solving and countermeasures to senior levels of the organization
  • Directly leading the Production Planning Team. Involving immediate stakeholders for guidance and input as needed on developing processes to capture TBMNC production status and quickly execute countermeasures to improve the current & future condition.
  • Escalating complex concerns clearly and concisely to TBMNC executives in a time appropriate manner
  • Coordinating and managing Production Control cost and staffing planning, ensuring all department and company targets and objectives are met
  • Supporting additional ad-hoc requests and projects which could include items such as make vs buy, budget and other company initiatives
  • Develop strategies to ensure Production requirements & Sales demands can be met
  • This role requires an ability to multi-task with many areas with conflicting deadlines and priorities. Maintaining daily & monthly deliverables (ex: Getsudo processes); while adapting to the on-going demands of a growing & evolving production environment.
  • This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and work with many individuals and entities at any given time
  • This role requires managing the resources of the Production planning team to effectively execute all Production planning objectives

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equal experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication & visualization skills
  • Experience with Toyota and or manufacturing planning process, specifications, and timelines
  • Strategic planning mindset & experience executing strategic plans
  • Business planning (Hoshin) development & execution
  • Technical problem-solving ability such as: Plan Do Check Act (PDCA), Root Cause Analysis /Counter Measures (RC/CM), and or Toyota Business Practices (TBP)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to coach and develop a team
  • Experience using KPIs for goal setting and process management.
  • Understanding of advanced planning systems for manufacturing planning execution - Ex: Siemens Manufacturing Operations Management Advanced Planning and Scheduling (MOM APS), Toyota Assembly Line Control (ALC) / Plant Specification Management System (PSMS) or other planning and scheduling systems)
