WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Toyota's Cybersecurity Department is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Principal Engineer II - Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity.
In this critical role, you will lead the design and implementation of advanced security architectures that protect our North American Manufacturing Centers and OT environments.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of OT Cybersecurity, you will be a key player in safeguarding Toyota's manufacturing operations by building and maintaining cutting-edge, enterprise-wide security solutions that keep our systems resilient and secure.

- Lead comprehensive security assessments of complex OT systems to ensure compliance with Toyota's OT security standards and requirements.
- Partner closely with IT, OT, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Business Operations, and other engineering teams to integrate cybersecurity throughout system lifecycles-from greenfield projects to brownfield upgrades.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in OT security architecture design, including network segmentation and secure remote access strategies.
- Identify and communicate potential OT risks and impacts clearly, providing actionable recommendations for effective risk mitigation.
- Design and deploy OT cybersecurity solutions such as advanced threat detection, intrusion detection systems, and secure network segmentation.
- Drive the adoption and integration of OT cybersecurity standards and tools across multiple manufacturing domains.
- Mentor and collaborate with cross-functional teams to elevate cybersecurity awareness and best practices throughout the organization.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field that provides a solid technical foundation.
- 5+ years of experience securing industrial or manufacturing environments, with deep knowledge of SCADA systems, PLCs, and OT cybersecurity challenges.
- Hands-on experience with core IT skills, including networking, firewalls, systems administration, enterprise architecture, and cloud computing.
- Familiarity with key security frameworks and regulations such as IEC 62443, ISA-95/Purdue model, NIST CSF, and NERC CIP.
- Proven ability to conduct vulnerability assessments and risk analyses on complex industrial systems, and design secure network architectures with defense-in-depth strategies.
- Technical proficiency with industrial cybersecurity tools-configuring ICS firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, secure remote access solutions-and understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA).
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, lead security initiatives, and mentor team members.
ADDED BONUS IF YOU HAVE
- Master's degree in Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related STEM discipline.
- Relevant certifications like CISSP or GICSP.
- 7+ years of experience in industrial cybersecurity environments, including exposure to Artificial Intelligence applications.
- Expert-level knowledge of industrial protocols and safety standards.
- Advanced certifications such as GICSP or related credentials.
