Who We're Looking For

Toyota's Fuel Cell Development (FCD) Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer to support the development and validation of technologies needed to ensure the successful deployment of Toyota's fuel cells into the market.

The primary responsibilities of this role are the following:

  • Develop and evaluate Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) equipment
  • Lead HRS system and component testing to evaluate performance, reliability, and operational metrics
  • Support review and update of the applicable codes and standards
  • Support collaboration with HRS equipment suppliers and industry stakeholders for development of components and systems to meet requirements

Reporting to the FCD Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support Toyota's transition from an automotive company to a mobility company, playing a critical role in ushering in the "era of creating a new mobility culture".

What You'll Be Doing

  • Performing systems analysis and creating plant process & instrumentation design
  • Defining the controls narrative and functional requirements
  • Making trade studies and defining system and component requirements
  • Creating requests for proposals, reviewing vendor submittals, and selecting equipment
  • Managing overall project schedule and coordination with project participants (engineering, procurement, suppliers, contractors, etc.)
  • Supporting installation, leading commissioning, and closing-out project
  • Managing HRS operation to ensure reliable fueling for development programs
  • Developing transparent targets for operations & maintenance and reliability of the HRS
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholder groups to ensure development targets are aligned with the company's strategic vision
  • Sharing knowledge gained through evaluation and development with industry stakeholders to improve overall market readiness for hydrogen fueling applications
  • Domestic and International Travel ~25%

What You Bring

  • Bachelor of Science (or above) with an applicable Engineering major (example: Chemical, Mechanical, Systems)
  • 8+ years in a process design or related industry (hydrogen, petrochemical, industrial gases, etc.)
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience with process safety review (HAZOP, FMEA, DRBFM, etc.)
  • Experience with applicable codes and standards
  • Experience with Engineer of Record design activity and permitting process for an applicable cryogenic or gaseous fueling station (LH2, GH2, CNG, or LNG) for vehicles (example: LDV, MDV, HDV)
  • Hands-on experience with commissioning and troubleshooting mechanical, fluid, and electrical systems

Added Bonus If You Have

  • Experience with controllers, control logic programming, sensor data
  • Experience with hydrogen or fuel cells
  • Experience working in a cross industry collaborative environment
  • Experience creating and presenting to Executives

The annual base salary range for this position is $132,100.00 - $214,600.00.
