Who we're looking for
Toyota's Paint Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Paint Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to support Production Operations in the Paint Shop as an Engineer.
Reporting to the Paint Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Paint Department's Hoshin as related to the engineering role]
This position is based in San Antonio, TX. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.
What you'll be doing
- Support paint shop Hoshin
- Shop equipment reliability management
- Long term equipment overhaul management
- Assist with annual budget submissions
- Write CapEx and special project justifications (RINGI)
- Oversee new equipment build specs and conduct kanban, buyoff
- Manage projects from scope planning, procurement to installation and launch
- Support Breakdown investigations
- Lead major breakdown reflection activities
- Provide technical support maintenance for equipment design and improvement
- Develop tools/equipment to improve safety, quality, productivity and reduce costs
- Annual certification program (Safety, compliance...) management
- Emergency repair project management
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent with at least 5 years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in automotive paint manufacturing
- At least 1 year of experience managing Engineering or Maintenance projects
- Ability to travel to the plant as needed to support operations
- Valid driver's license and motor vehicle record that comply with company requirements
Added bonus if you have
- 3+ years of paint shop experience
- Familiarity with Toyota principles, including the Toyota Production System and Kaizen
- Cross-functional knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes
- Experience with 3D design and manufacturing
- Experience with FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
- Experience with 8-step TBP or QCC methodologies
