Toyota's Powertrain Model Based Development team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Model Based Development Senior Engineer.

Reporting to the Senior Manager in R&D under Model Based Development (MBD), the primary responsibility of this role is to develop new powertrain technologies for conventional & electrified powertrain vehicles by applying state-of-the-art modeling, and optimization techniques.
What you'll be doing
- Modeling and simulation of key powertrain components and systems including hybrids, battery electric, and fuel cells.
- Making and standardizing new simulation methodologies related to fluid and thermal powertrain problems.
- Improving existing simulation methodologies for efficiency and accuracy to improve Toyota's product development process.
- Benchmarking of new technologies and MBD technologies outside of the company.
- Collaborate with Universities, research labs, and engineering companies to conduct research in electrified powertrain including hybrids, battery electric & fuel cells, and apply to in-house development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify new opportunities for research and development.
- Develop prototypes to demonstrate feasibility of the products.
- Reporting experience on project status to team members and project sponsors on a regular basis.
What you bring
- Bachelor of Science in engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, etc.) AND/OR commensurate experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in a relevant engineering domain/industry.
- Familiarity with automotive powertrain components and systems.
- Proven years of experience in computational fluid dynamic simulation experience including 0D, 1D or 3D tools.
- Theoretical knowledge in fluid and thermal physics.
- Demonstrated experience in machine learning and/or AI areas.
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 15%.
- Willingness to work overtime up to 5 hours per week or as needed.
Added bonus if you have
- Master of Science in engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, etc.).
- Experience in hands-on experiments and testing for data acquisition.
- Knowledge of automotive powertrains - engine, transmission, driveline, battery, electric motor, and/or fuel cell.
- Expertise in coding languages/tools such as C/C++, Matlab and/or Python.
- Experience with simulation of automotive battery cells and XEV systems.
- Experience with simulation of automotive transmission/transaxle lubrication and temperature.
