Toyota's Production Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Machining Production Engineer to support our Engine and Drivetrain production lines.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support the daily manufacturing operations of an automotive production line focusing on problem-solving, continuous improvement, and collaborative teamwork.

Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Production Engineering Department's objective to implement engineering solutions related to safety, quality, productivity and cost focus.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage manufacturing support operations and functions related to safety, quality improvements, scrap/repair reductions, productivity improvements, tooling/kaizen implementation, cost reduction, and meantime between failures (MTBF) improvement.
  • Provide capital and product support for the assigned line including leading change point management coordination of internal and external resources for the implementation of projects, new equipment installation, model changes, refurbishment of existing equipment, new tooling technologies and other kaizens.
  • Perform Problem-Solving utilizing Toyota Business Practice (TBP) to troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and recommend countermeasures via the creation of strategy documents to recommend and implement effective countermeasures to resolve issues, implement kaizens to improve efficiency, reduce costs and meet KPI targets for assigned line.
  • Work in cross-functional groups to ensure production processes are capable of safely producing quality products, within takt time, while meeting OA targets utilizing thorough root cause analysis, reporting, and cooperation with support groups to implement countermeasures; ensuring successful planning and implementation of production, precision measurement, and testing equipment for new projects; to understand daily production problems in processes or part quality, quickly perform root cause analysis and implement countermeasures.
  • Develop new technology or systems to improve the Team Member's process. This will include trialing new technology, automation, data collection systems and data analysis to better the operator's experience.
  • This is a fast-paced Powertrain manufacturing environment. The ability to proactively evaluate the situation, gather stake holders and communicate effectively to management and affected parties is critical.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) with a minimum of 2 years of professional automotive machining experience. Candidates without an engineering degree but with 5+ years of relevant automotive experience will also be considered.
  • A motor vehicle record that meets company standards is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively coordinate with Production, Quality, Safety, Maintenance, Facilities, Corporate PE, and Outside Vendors, ensuring timely completion of all tasks according to schedule.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications to analyze data, generate reports, and present findings.
  • Experience troubleshooting CNC and automation machinery. Proficiency in CAM and NC program development is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, lead, prioritize work, meet milestones, and report project status effectively.
  • Quick learner with the ability to understand manufacturing processes and adapt to new environments and challenges.

Added bonus if you have

  • Programming and troubleshooting experience with robotic systems
  • Familiarity with Toyopuc PLC, Mitsubishi PLC, and/or Fanuc PMC
  • TBP (passed panel) or similar problem-solving/lean certification
  • Expertise in cutting tool specification and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Data Acquisition / SCADA implementation and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of TPS (Toyota Production System)
  • Microsoft Power BI skills
  • Work holding and fixture design experience
  • Cylindrical grinding experience
