Who we're looking for
Toyota's Integrated Vehicle Systems Functional & Lighting Design Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to design and develop parts for vehicle Mechatronics and Exterior Lighting.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, this position will support the Integrated Vehicle Systems department's objective to design and develop Functional and Lighting parts.
What you'll be doing
- Coordinate the design and development of Functional (Mechatronics) and Lighting parts.
- Follow responsible parts of a vehicle project from concept stage through design, validation and launch, including problem solving of technical issues.
- Plan structure of parts, utilizing target setting and studying packaging and style feasibility.
- Execute 2D and 3D design in CAD (CATIA) either independently or by leading supplier engineers or CAD modelers.
- Participate in evaluation and manufacturing activities at the event location - both domestic and international.
- Proactively improve design quality and cost for responsible vehicles in production.
- Weekly reporting to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar degree.
- Engineering experience in a professional setting (internship, full-time, or engineering organization such as FSAE).
- Experience using CAD systems.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with suppliers, affiliates, and Toyota Motor Corporation (Japan).
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work overtime about 25%, when necessary.
- Willingness to work in office 4-5 days per week.
- Willingness to travel about 25% domestically and/or internationally, when necessary.
Added bonus if you have
- At least 2 years of automotive engineering design experience- 35%.
- At least 2 years of engineering design experience in Automotive Exteriors, Lighting, Electronics, or Mechatronics- 25%.
- At least 2 years of experience using CATIA V5- 15%.
- At least 2 years of project management experience including coordination of suppliers- 15%.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience in an engineering environment, setting, or task- 10%.
