Who we're looking for

Toyota's Integrated Vehicle Systems Functional & Lighting Design Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is to design and develop parts for vehicle Mechatronics and Exterior Lighting.

• Coordinate the design and development of Functional (Mechatronics) and Lighting parts.
• Follow responsible parts of a vehicle project from concept stage through design, validation and launch, including problem solving of technical issues.
• Plan structure of parts, utilizing target setting and studying packaging and style feasibility.
• Execute 2D and 3D design in CAD (CATIA) either independently or by leading supplier engineers or CAD modelers.
• Participate in evaluation and manufacturing activities at the event location - both domestic and international.
• Proactively improve design quality and cost for responsible vehicles in production.
• Weekly reporting to management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor of Science (or higher) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar degree.
• Engineering experience in a professional setting (internship, full-time, or engineering organization such as FSAE).
• Experience using CAD systems.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with suppliers, affiliates, and Toyota Motor Corporation (Japan).
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work overtime about 25%, when necessary.
• Willingness to work in office 4-5 days per week.
• Willingness to travel about 25% domestically and/or internationally, when necessary.

• At least 2 years of automotive engineering design experience- 35%.
• At least 2 years of engineering design experience in Automotive Exteriors, Lighting, Electronics, or Mechatronics- 25%.
• At least 2 years of experience using CATIA V5- 15%.
• At least 2 years of project management experience including coordination of suppliers- 15%.
• At least 2 years of leadership experience in an engineering environment, setting, or task- 10%.
