Toyota's Body Weld Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Body Weld Engineer.

Reporting to the Body Weld Engineering Maintenance Manager, the person in this role will support the Body Weld Department's Hoshin as related to the engineering role.

This position is based San Antonio, TX. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.

What you'll be doing

• Management of assigned production area tooling, equipment automation and processes by providing engineering support for efficiency improvements related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction efforts.
• Developing a strong working relationship with the various Weld groups at all levels to ensure great communication and understanding of both floor side and plant issues.
• Management of improvement projects ranging from large capital investment to smaller projects such as minor kaizen implementations.
• Responsible for coordinating all aspects of projects including budget justification, scheduling, installation and confirmation and final handover to Production.
• Support Maintenance to solve weld quality issues.
• Process Kaizen.
• Facilitate problem solving activities, conduct trial and track results and report status.
• Responsible for providing engineering support for efficiency improvements related to safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
• Supporting production and suppliers to solve routine and technical problems.
• Developing a strong working relationship with the Quality and Production Team at all levels to ensure great communication and understanding of both floor side and plant issues.
• Resolving field issues and developing countermeasures for new model development - Similar to above with suppliers and production pilot teams.

What you bring

• Engineering B.S. degree or 5 years equivalent experience required.
• 1 year of project management experience required.
• 2 years of Cross-functional understanding of Body Operations Maintenance.
• 2 years industrial automation experience surrounding PLC logic and Robotics.
• Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project skills.
• 1 year of cross-functional understanding of Automotive Manufacturing required.
• 1 year of new model experience from early model to mass production integration.
• 1 year of new technology experience such as: SB Roller Hemming, Aluminum spot welding and Self piercing riveting.
• Body Weld automation systems experience.
• This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that's acceptable by company standards is required for this position.

Added bonus if you have

• Cross-functional understanding of Automotive Manufacturing.
• Prior body weld co-op or contractor.
• Passed TBP through Panel.
• 5 years of Technical Experience: Fanuc Controls Toyopuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi PLC Yaskawa, Nachi, Kawasaki, ABB Robotics WinMotion Controls.
• Understanding of Toyota concepts, including the Toyota Production System and Kaizen preferred.
• 5 years of Technical Experience with Welding Controls and critical process set up.
• Ringi Creation and Approval.
• Mechanical, Electrical of Industrial Engineering B.S. degree
• 2 years of project management experience from scope of work, planning, budgeting to SOP.
