Who we're looking for:

The TFS Enterprise Platforms team is seeking a highly motivated Director, Software Engineering, to help our growing Enterprise platform needs. The Director, Software Engineering, is a pivotal leader responsible for overseeing all technology-related initiatives within the assigned Enterprise platforms and frameworks factory. This role entails developing and executing the factory's technology strategy to ensure alignment with overarching business objectives. You will leverage technical expertise to drive innovation and deliver impactful business outcomes. You will be tasked with influencing skills to shape strategy and forge partnerships both internally and externally. Collaborate with Technology Domain Owners (TDOs), Enterprise Architecture, Data Domain Owners (DDOs), and Business Domain Owners (BDOs).

What you'll be doing

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Provide guidance, support, and coaching to team members to ensure individual and team goals are met.
  • Manage performance evaluations, career development, and succession planning for the team.

Technology Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for technology initiatives to deliver industry leading real time platform and tools that can be leveraged for cloud based distributed systems, AI/ML, critical workflows, enabling seamless communication across systems for customer notifications, servicing updates, and operational events.
  • Implement advanced solutions using technologies like Kafka, AWS MQ, and other distributed systems to support real-time communication at scale.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technology solutions that enhance employee experience.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve and innovate our technology offerings.

Vendor Management and Partnerships:

  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate vendor performance, negotiate contracts, and drive value-added partnerships to support our technology initiatives.

What you bring:

  • 12+ years of expertise as a Software Engineer Leader with experience in designing and implementing modern 12 factor, application frameworks to promote reuse and cloud native business technology solutions.
  • 3+ years of practical knowledge of cloud platforms, advanced software design patterns & architecture, operations and software engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience with real-time event-driven architectures using Kafka and related technologies.
  • 10+ years of Proficiency in Java, Spring Framework (Spring Batch, Spring Integration), streaming technologies and microservices architecture.
  • Proven track record of delivering scalable cloud native solutions by developing frameworks for addressing cross cutting concerns like logging, application testing and application security.
  • Instrumentation leveraging programming languages like Java, Python, SQL, and AWS tools and services.

Added bonus if you have:

  • Master's degree in computer science or a master's degree in software engineering.
  • Certification in cloud technologies is a plus.
  • Experience with distributed database systems such as Cassandra and/or ElasticSearch.
  • Previous experience with large scale document management systems.
