Who we're looking for

Toyota Financial Services is seeking a visionary Director of Data Engineering to lead the strategy, architecture, and delivery of our next-gen analytic platforms. You'll shape the future of our data science, AI/ML, and self-service analytics capabilities across the enterprise, empowering teams globally to drive smarter decisions through data.

What you'll be doing

  • Own the strategy and execution for Toyota's analytical data platforms-including ML/AI tools (SageMaker, Bedrock), self-service tools, and reporting infrastructure.
  • Architect and scale a modern data science platform enabling model development, training, deployment, and operationalization.
  • Build a multi-tenant, global-ready data ecosystem for Toyota's financial entities, integrating open-source and vendor-based solutions.
  • Partner with product, data scientists, engineers, and enterprise tech leaders to align business and technical needs.
  • Grow, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of data engineers, setting a high bar for technical excellence and innovation.

What you bring

  • 10-15+ years in data engineering, data platform or analytics roles; 5+ years in leadership roles.
  • Hands-on expertise with analytical tools (SageMaker, Bedrock, Jupyter), cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Redshift), and languages like Python or Java.
  • Proven experience designing and scaling data platforms that support AI/ML and BI use cases.
  • Strong communication skills; able to bridge business goals and technical strategies.
  • Experience working in cloud-native environments (AWS preferred).

Added bonus if you have

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, ML/AI Specialty).
  • Deep knowledge of big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, etc.) and data governance best practices.
