Who we're looking for
The Credit Risk Review (CRR) department at Toyota Financial Savings Bank (TFSB) ensures that TFSB maintains its overall safety and soundness as a federally insured depository bank by providing an independent assessment of the asset quality of TFSB's loan portfolios and the governance around the acquisition and management of those assets. CRR reports to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and has a direct independent communication line to the Risk Committee of the Board.
CRR will provide independent assessments to meet all federal and state laws and regulations and provide periodic (quarterly) updates to the Risk Committee of the Board, and to the respective Bank and parent company management committees. CRR will have strategic and tactical responsibilities specializing in credit risk management, portfolio management, and regulatory risk management, ensuring the organization adheres to regulatory requirements and internal risk appetite levels across all lending products.
The CRR Data Specialist role will work closely and support the CRR Specialist(s) and the CRR Executive to discharge the above mandates of the CRR department.
The CRR Data Specialist will be responsible to access and independently extract from business and corporate data sources, perform data analysis, trend analysis, etc. to support on-going monitoring of all TFSB portfolios, support data analysis during and as follow up to credit review (loan review) engagements, including targeted reviews and testing to ensure control effectiveness.
What you'll be doing
- The CRR Data Specialist role will work closely with and support the CRR Specialist(s) and the CRR Executive to ensure that TFSB maintains its overall safety and soundness as a federally insured depository bank.
- Supports the vision, strategy, and execution for TFSB's annual Credit Risk Review plan, within the fiscal year, to oversee TFSB's credit risk taking activities.
- Use sampling techniques to determine which credits are selected during the specific credit review engagements (both full-scope and targeted reviews).
- The CRR Data Specialist role will work closely with and support the CRR Specialist(s) and the CRR Executive to complete an annual risk assessment of TFSB's loan portfolios (e.g., Mortgage, Automotive) as well as operations (e.g., underwriting, collections) to determine the annual Credit Risk Review plan and execute the plan.
- The CRR Data Specialist role will work closely with and support the CRR Specialist(s) and the CRR Executive to provide TFSB's Senior Management and the Risk Committee of the Board with an independent and timely assessment of the following:
- Analyze internal and external data, understand trends and draw inferences.
- Benchmark internal data trends and KPIs with external benchmarks and regulatory guidance.
- Responsible for independent data access and data extraction from business and corporate data sources, perform data analysis, trend analysis, etc. to support on-going monitoring of all TFSB portfolios.
- Support data analysis during and as follow up to credit review (loan review) engagements, including targeted reviews and testing to ensure control effectiveness.
- Identify relevant trends that affect the loan underwriting and contract booking as well as the collectability of the portfolios and highlight segments of the portfolio that are potential problem areas.
- Assist in determining the adequacy TFSB's internal credit risk polices, guidelines, procedures and standards.
- Identify loans with actual/potential weaknesses so that risk mitigation actions can be taken to strengthen TFSB's credit quality and minimize credit losses.
- Using data analysis, assist in determining the sufficiency of TFSB's "watchlist".
- Provide timely and pertinent reporting on asset quality as well as the overall quality of TFSB's loan portfolios (e.g., Mortgage, Automotive).
- Assist in evaluating the reasonableness of the ALLL.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Econometrics, or Quantitative field (STEM).
- 5+ years of experience in credit risk management, credit risk review and/or internal audit in a financial services or banking institution with a demonstrated record of success.
- Experience with data manipulation using Excel, summarization and cleaning of data, pivot tables, graphs, etc.
- Data extraction tools, e.g., SQL, Snowflake
- Data analysis tools, e.g., SAS, Python
- Data visualization tools, e.g., Tableau, QliKView, MicroStrategy
Added bonus if you have
- Advanced degree; MS in Finance, Econometrics or Quantitative fields (STEM)
- Certification in data extraction and data analysis tools
- Experience building and leading a credit loan review program within a financial services or banking institution.
- Demonstrated ability in dealing with federal and state regulatory agencies.
- Working knowledge and understanding of credit risk management and compliance framework/guidelines.
- Working knowledge and understanding of all federal and state laws and regulatory guidance applicable to Banking institutions (e.g., Reg W, Reg O, Reg Z, AML, etc.).
