About the Team
The Global Public Policy team's work spans a broad and diverse range of functions and work-streams, including government affairs and government relations; product, policy, and issue area expertise; risk and crisis management and mitigation; outreach, coalitions, and partnerships; and philanthropy. The mission of the Global Public Policy team is to prevent, manage, and mitigate political, legislative, and regulatory threats to TikTok products and to promote a political, legislative, and regulatory environment that supports growth and innovation for our business.
We are seeking an experienced executive to lead our State and Local Public Policy team. This leader will manage a team of regional Public Policy professionals across the United States, who are responsible for addressing a wide range of business-critical, fast-moving policy issues at the state and local levels. This leader will be responsible for promoting effective collaboration, identifying and responding to national trends, creating opportunities for proactive engagement, and ultimately driving positive policy outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Shape the future of our industry by implementing our state and local policy strategy in all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, working cross-functionally with senior leaders across our policy, communications, legal, marketing, operations, and product teams.
- Develop a deep understanding of business priorities and legislative trends to inform our reactive and proactive work around the country.
- Engage at the highest levels across the US States with trade associations, NGOs, as well as with elected and appointed officials on behalf of the company.
- Drive proactive strategies towards success in key issue areas.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, setting the vision, strategy, and structure for professionals who are at the forefront of challenging, multi-faceted policy issues. Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and career growth opportunities for a diverse team across multiple experience and competency levels.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous development, ensuring the team is equipped with the skills and expertise needed to navigate complex public policy challenges and drive meaningful impact.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Policy, Political Science, Business Administration) or equivalent practical experience
- An extraordinary track record managing high-stakes policy issues at the state and local level in an in-house role
- Strong understanding of advocacy and engagement strategies
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build and maintain relationships with external partners
- Superb communication skills in one-on-one, group, and town hall style settings with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience providing strategic counsel to senior executives

Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $227240 - $437760 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
