Team Intro
TikTok USDS Traffic and Networking team brings together virtual and physical technologies to create hyperscale data-center networking solutions that power several of the most popular apps in the world, such as TikTok, which serves millions of US users. This team is also responsible for designing, building, and operating the intelligent network and traffic infrastructure to meet the requirements of high availability, scalability, and high-performance. By joining this team, you will gain marketable software development and network operations experience in data center networking.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, operate and optimize TikTok USDS network, not limited to, backbone, public cloud and Edge/CDN.
- Design, manage, operate and contribute to the development of our Layer 7 load balancer, CDN origin and DNS.
- Troubleshoot network and / or traffic issues in partnership with our Trusted Technology Partner.
- Work with cross-functional teams including but not limited to compute, storage, database, recommendation system, drive the innovation and evolution of the network.
- Work with external vendors and ISPs for device and carrier selection, perform testing and verification.
- Participate in TikTok USDS traffic and networking global on-call rotation.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Good understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, RSVP, DHCP, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS and MPLS related technologies.
- Good understanding of network monitoring protocols and tools, such as SNMP, Sflow/netflow, Telemetry.
- Hands on experience with one or more of the following: Load Balancers, DNS, CDN origin, Datacenter networking.
- Familiarity with data center network architecture, such as CLOS
- Bachelor's in Computer or Engineering related field, or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree based on three or more years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Significant experience configuring and optimizing Nginx.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols and implementation in hyper-scale data center networks.
- In-depth knowledge of public cloud architecture, such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Ali Cloud, OCI, etc.
- Good understanding of IPv6 and IPv4-IPv6 co-existence technologies.
- Programming/scripting in Python, Go or other languages.
