Responsibilities
The Global Public Policy & Government Affairs team's work spans across a broad and diverse range of functions and workstreams, including government affairs and government relations; policy and issue area expertise; risk and crisis management and mitigation; outreach, coalitions, and partnerships; and philanthropy. The mission of the Global Public Policy & Government Affairs team is to prevent, manage, and mitigate political, legislative, and regulatory threats to TikTok and to promote a political, legislative, and regulatory environment that supports growth and innovation for our business.
The State Public Policy Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting TikTok's state government affairs work by coordinating across lobbying firms, external stakeholders, and cross-functional partners to ensure timely, strategic, and well-executed engagement across all 50-states. This role is essential to helping the state team track legislation, respond to policy challenges, manage firm relationships, and execute high-impact events and campaigns.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, highly responsive, can effectively manage competing priorities, anticipate needs of the team, and ensure follow-through.

Team Operations and Support:
- Maintain well-organized and up to date trackers for state legislative activity, events, risk assessments, and more.
- Take ownership of recurring operational needs, including event calendars, external partner invoicing, and other coordination tasks that keep the team running smoothly.
Legislative Monitoring:
- Track and synthesize priority state legislation and policy developments, with a focus on identifying emerging trends, risks, and opportunities for engagement.
- Consolidate and format reports, memos, and background documents related to state bills, policy trends, and relevant tech and platform issues to be shared with state firms and internal groups based on state manager output
External Firm Coordination:
- Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for state lobbying firms, ensuring timely communication, sharing of materials, and follow-up on key deliverables.
- Support administrative needs including firm onboarding, contract renewals, and payment processing in partnership with internal operations.
- Collaborate closely with state managers to ensure firms are fully briefed on strategic initiatives and consistently aligned with TikTok's public policy priorities across states.
Stakeholder Engagement & Event Execution:
- Support logistics and coordination for events with state policymakers, trade associations, and chambers of commerce including venue coordination, attendee tracking, briefing materials, and follow-up communications.
- Willing and able to attend external events, legislative conferences, or in-state activations as needed to support the team and represent TikTok professionally.
- Maintain engagement trackers, contact databases, and meeting documentation to ensure consistent and strategic outreach.
Internal Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Serve as a connective thread between the state policy team and key cross-functional partners, ensuring timely coordination on deliverables, messaging alignment, and rapid response to emerging policy developments.
- Draft and maintain internal documentation, including cross-functional planning materials and issue trackers, to ensure the broader team is informed and aligned on state-level priorities and risks.
- Proactively surface cross-functional needs and help drive clarity, accountability, and momentum across shared workstreams.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Affairs, Government, Public Affairs, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong operations, administrative, and project management experience
- Interest in Public Policy and Government, specifically state level politics
- Ability to understand and navigate the business implications of public policy.
- Experience in planning and executing events of varying scales is a plus.
- Outstanding communication and writing skills, with the ability to distill complex policy issues into clear, compelling messages, while maintaining strong prioritization and multi-tasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven problem-solving skills, demonstrating exceptional judgment and discretion, with a track record of staying focused and calm under pressure.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $119564 - $197600 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
