Responsibilities
TikTok's Intelligent Creation team develops the core video creation technologies that enable creators to easily capture, edit and publish fun and creative videos directly in the TikTok app.
We are looking for enthusiastic developers at various levels of experience to work on TikTok's core video capture and editing technology. In this role, you will use the latest audio/video technology to enable TikTok creators to make unique and high quality video content. Our technology involves video import, non-linear editing, audio and video processing, rendering, encoding and much more.
As a Multimedia Software Engineer on the Intelligent Creation team, you will:
- Develop innovative camera and editing features that enable TikTok's creators to publish exciting and fun videos;

- Work together in a team to plan, develop and release high quality software that reaches millions of creators and works on many different types of devices;
- Research new and emerging technologies and how to apply them to the video creation and editing process;
- Apply the latest device technologies on Android and iOS platforms to enhance TikTok user's video creation experience.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science or related major and 3 or more years of software development experience;
- Familiar with multi-threading programming, common data structures, & design patterns;
- Effective communication, willingness to learn new technologies and apply them to new use cases.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiar with C/C++ and high performance programming.
- Familiar with media processing and frameworks such as FFmpeg, GStreamer, AVFoundation, MediaCodec;
- Familiar with mobile software development on Android or iOS and calling native code from programming languages such as Java and/or Objective-C
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $119000 - $250000 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
