Responsibilities
The Search Ads team constantly pushes the boundaries of general search engine monetization across our apps, including TikTok, TopBuzz, BuzzVideo, and more, building a globally leading Search Ads monetization system. At the Search Ads team, you will have the chance to work on large-scale distributed storage and architecture, NLP, Rank, and IR related problems. You will be also deeply involved in the innovation and optimization of our Ad format, creative display, and the ROI of ads delivery.
We're looking for a talented and driven software engineer to join our Search Ads Delivery team. You'll play a key role in building scalable, high-performance systems that power TikTok's search advertising business. Responsibilities:
- Design and build highly available ad delivery systems that handle high traffic and low latency demands
- Develop and optimize delivery strategies for various ad placements to improve monetization efficiency
- Enhance engineering strategies across core components like ad recall, ranking, bidding, and traffic optimization
- Architect systems to support long-term growth, aligned with product evolution and technical challenges
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive complex projects and bring innovative ad products to life
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficient in at least one mainstream programming language (Go, Java, or C++) with solid coding practices
- 3+ years of experience in designing, developing, and debugging production-grade systems at scale
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and debugging; hands-on experience with multithreading, networking, distributed storage, OS-level concepts, and high availability systems
- Experience with distributed system and microservice architecture design
- Strong communication skills, proactive mindset, and a strong sense of ownership
- Experience with advertising systems or ad delivery engineering is a strong plus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Good understanding in one of the following domains: ad tech, bidding, ranking, recommendation, search, backend, large-scale systems, or data pipeline.
- Good product sense and experience designing and implementing product features.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $194000 - $355000 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others.
