Responsibilities
Design and implement critical search infrastructure systems, including compute, storage, and cloud platform using data to understand the availability, reliability, and sustainability of the company's search infrastructure.
Provide reasonable search engineering infrastructure and search architecture governance to ensure that the overall system operates smoothly.
Leverage and develop advanced and cutting edge approaches to large-scale software development, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and automation.
Build a fast and robust search product by optimizing system performance and improving service stability.
Work on search offline processing by constructing a high freshness multi-media index and provide a reliable offline data support for search engine.
Work on all phases of the full development cycle, end-to-end, from design, implementations, and testing to documentation, delivery, and maintenance.
Manage continuous integration tools to help manage test targets, create reports, and support other users of the tools.
Provide business development of TikTok Search and provide the best search experience for TikTok users.
Provide fast iterations of TikTok Search business and further enable the product growth.
Mentor junior Engineers and interns.

Qualifications

Qualifications
Must have a Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Systems, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field, and 2 years of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Systems, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field, and 5 years of post-bachelor's, progressive related work experience.

Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:
Working across all phases of the software development lifecycle for the design, development, testing, and implementation of Linux systems software using C, C++, data structures, or algorithms;
Designing storage systems, including relational or non-relational databases, using SQL and database technologies;
Designing and implementing scalable, distributed cloud-based data pipeline to process large quantities of data using ETL tools;
Designing and implementing robust search infrastructure to support high throughput and fault tolerant services; and
Developing code and identifying issues in Linux environment.

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $226158 - $355000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
