Responsibilities
PDPO (Privacy and Data Protection Office) is the organization to lead, supervise, and empower all TikTok's privacy work in an accountable way and eventually become overall industry leading. This team is the expert in the landscape of privacy risks and passionate about consulting across the company on implementing the proper safeguards and technical mitigations to ensure that our users' privacy is honored across the TikTok's products and platforms.
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
1. Conduct industry research and design a world-class privacy compliance platform that offers surprising products to compliance projects and teams, including modules such as Discovery, Response, Operation, and Privacy Navigation. Collaborate fully with internal business experts, advisors, and product owners within the entire TikTok and ByteDance ecosystem to build a leading privacy and security system together.

2. Communicate extensively with Legal, GSO, PDPO, and other roles to provide professional product suggestions, participate in the design of privacy frameworks and the breakdown of technical rules, and provide excellent platforms and tools based on their actual workflows to support their daily work, such as PTR and PIR processes.
3. Promote and decompose multiple privacy compliance projects, including but not limited to permission control and minimal data collection, and implement privacy strategies. Communicate across functions, align resources and goals, and ensure the implementation of privacy compliance projects.
4. Excellent product requirement pool management skills, excellent communication, documentation, and expression skills. Able to quickly judge priority, ROI, and implementation order, fully cooperate with engineering, software, and QA organizations, and maintain version launch schedules.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
1. 5+ years of experience in product design or management, prefer privacy or data governance directions. Preference will be given to those who understand risk and control frameworks, or who have worked in private products, security, and other data governance fields. Familiar with platform product design and data lifecycle management.
2. Familiarity with knowledge and skills in the fields of privacy compliance and data governance, including but not limited to applicable global privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and COPPA.
3. Experience in designing highly complex and interdependent systems, such as but not limited to data security platforms, asset management platforms, bank back-ends, and logistics and warehousing back-ends. Strong understanding of data, platforms, and technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Ability to create a vision and rally an organization around it, with experience in driving innovation to discover new value and experiences.
2. Able to lead discussions with cross-functional teams, adapt quickly to changes, and collaborate with legal, PDPO, research and development, and operations teams.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $165120 - $311600 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others.
