Senior Legal Counsel - eCommerce - London

Responsibilities

Global E-commerce legal BP team works closely with different cross functional legal teams and business team to enable TikTok Shop E-commerce business expand and grow in overseas markets, act as business partners to find solutions in compliance with laws and regulations of applicable jurisdictions.

Responsibilities
- Lead a legal BP team of 2 - 4 people to support the daily legal needs of the TikTok Shop business team.
- Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of operational, regulatory, commercial, and product-related eCommerce matters from an EU law perspective, including consumer protection, B2B/B2C engagement, product compliance, advertising, creator marketing, and intellectual property.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across European markets as TikTok launches and scales new products, features, and business initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement of TikTok's eCommerce operations through review and enhancement of consumer and business-facing disclosures, policies, terms & conditions, and product features.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements relevant to digital commerce, including contracts with merchants, creators, and partners.
- Contribute to process improvement, template development, and internal training, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce legal friction.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including privacy, public policy, compliance, and product teams, to ensure alignment on legal strategy and risk management.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing strategic and tactical priorities in a high-growth environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Qualified lawyer with a strong academic background and legal qualifications in the UK and/or Europe.
- 5+ years of legal experience advising consumer-facing digital platforms in Europe, with expertise in platform liability, consumer protection, and intellectual property.

Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of EU laws applicable to eCommerce platforms, digital marketplaces, and the retail sector.
- Ideally, in-house experience within an international, matrixed organization.
- Proven track record in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, particularly within the retail, technology, or creative industries.
