U.S. Data Security ("USDS") is a standalone department of TikTok in the U.S. This new security-first division was created to bring heightened focus and governance to our data protection policies and content assurance protocols to keep U.S. users safe. About the Team:
The Threat Detection and Response department in TikTok USDS is primarily responsible for threat detection, intelligence, incident response, security operations, and forensics. The TDR team is comprised of technical security practitioners, developers, and DFIR experts who work to protect trust in TikTok and our US users' data.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Security Analyst, you will be a member of TikTok's US Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC) team. You will belong to a team of strong people, processes, and technologies with the overarching goal of detecting and responding to threats targeting TikTok's US operations and infrastructure. You'll be based in our Cyber Fusion Center in Sydney.
Some of the day-to-day tasks for a shift lead include the following:
1. Monitor security alerts and events from various sources, such as intrusion detection systems, firewalls, and SIEM.
2. Analyze and investigate security incidents to determine the severity and potential impact.
3. Execute deep-dive analysis on incidents involving exploitation, malware and other forms of cyber attacks.
4. Identify and classify threats, vulnerabilities, and potential risks to the organization's infrastructure.
5. Investigate security alerts and resolve incidents in accordance with existing processes and playbooks.
6. Fine-tune security alerts to reduce false positives and improve detection accuracy.
7. Contribute to the development of CSOC playbooks and operational procedures.
8. Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats and trends.
9. Analyze and correlate logs and data from various sources to detect anomalies and potential security incidents.
10. Ensure that all incidents are properly tracked and closed with appropriate actions taken.
11. Train, mentor and help junior security analysts in the team on an on-going basis as and when required.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or equivalent information security, privacy, risk, compliance, project management or like discipline from an accredited college or university or measurable knowledge / experience from proven industry, military, defense, or government operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 3-5 years of experience handling security-related incidents
- Experience with identifying and responding to advanced threats and threat actor TTPs
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), ability to influence without authority.
- Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, in particular in leading or contributing to global and multi-functional teams.
- Demonstrated time management, problem-solving, effort prioritization and interpersonal skills
- Work well under pressure and within constraints to solve problems and meet objectives
- Excellent fundamental knowledge of industry-standard frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK)
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and cross-functional expertise across multiple IT operational and security disciplines
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff
- Must possess a high degree of integrity, be trustworthy, and have the ability to lead and inspire change
Preferred Qualifications:
- GIAC Certifications (such as GCIA, GCIH, GREM etc.) or applicable experience in the Information Security field
- One or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Java, Python, etc.)
- SQL - Experience writing and executing SQL queries
- Experience in performing or overseeing static/dynamic malware analysis
- Experience in performing digital forensics for incident response
- Strong Operating System Administration skills including conceptual knowledge of OS internals and experience with core service types
- Strong Experience in cloud-hosted environments
- Strong experience with UNIX/Linux and Windows environments
