Localization Program Manager - TikTok Design (San Jose)

Responsibilities

Introduction:
TikTok Localization is responsible for the localization of products such as TikTok, TikTok LIVE, CapCut, PICO, Lemon8, Helo, RA, and Resso. Our mission is to provide industry-leading solutions and cultural insights to enable quality localization at TikTok and beyond. Our team localizes user-facing content of TikTok and other products into 50+ global languages with efficiency and quality to ensure universal user experiences for all.

Responsibilities:
1. Own and manage the end-to-end localization of all user-facing content in the app/webapp, ensuring high-quality and on-time delivery for simultaneous global launches while maintaining vendor & language assets
2. Ensure localization quality of the products and highly visible materials by working closely with quality managers and vendors, taking a hands-on approach as necessary
3. Proactively identify and implement process and technology improvements, with a strong focus on leveraging AI solutions (e.g., MTPE, GenAI) to enhance workflow efficiency, reduce costs, and scale operations
4. Act as a strategic partner to product and business teams. Advocate for internationalization (i18n) best practices and provide localization insights to influence product roadmaps and ensure global readiness from the start
5. Independently formulate localized strategies for the product and business from user experience and data-driven perspectives

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree, preferably in localization, language, journalism, business administration.
2. 2+ years of client-side localization project or program management experience in a fast-paced tech environment, with hands-on experience using content management systems (CMS) or enterprise translation management systems (TMS).
3. Comprehensive understanding of mobile app localization life cycle process to effectively manage complex product localization solutions.
4. Proven ability to use data to inform decisions, track performance, and drive process improvements.
5. Exceptional cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive complex projects with multiple dependencies confidently and effectively.
7. Team player, objective-driven, detail-oriented, process-focused.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Hands-on experience with AI-powered localization workflows, such as managing MTPE programs, leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) for content optimization, or similar technologies to drive efficiency and quality.
2. Technical proficiency with skills such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, or Regular Expressions for process automation or data analysis.
3. Experience with internationalization (i18n) engineering processes and best practices.

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $88000 - $151112 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
