The legal team is growing together with our company and is committed to provide top-end in-house legal services to our internal clients. We are looking for a competent candidate to join us to work closely with internal stakeholders to provide pragmatic and strategic advice on innovative enterprise and consumer product offerings and services in the region.
This position will manage and oversee all legal matters related to ByteDance Indonesia e-commerce business, focusing on managing legal compliance, responding to law enforcement data requests, handling non-contentious third-party claims, and providing strategic legal advice and support to internal teams on e-commerce-related issues specifically related to consumer protection and platform liability related regulations.

This role will be based in Jakarta.
Responsibilities:
- Law Enforcement Data Requests (LEDR):
Serve as primary contact for law enforcement agencies requesting data related to investigations against the company and/or third party. Tasks include: clarify requests directly with law enforcement agencies, coordinate internally to gather data, and transmit information in compliance with the company's standard and/or applicable laws and regulations.
- Witness Examinations:
Support law enforcement investigations by attending witness examinations. Tasks include: conduct fact-finding and coordinate with cross-functional teams. Frequent travel outside Jakarta may be required.
- Handling Warning/Demand Letters:
Manage third-party demand or warning letters from third parties seeking compensation or other claims against the company. Tasks include: update relevant teams, conduct internal fact-finding and investigations, draft appropriate responses, and engage external counsel if necessary.
- Legal Advisory and Consultation:
Provide clear, actionable legal advice and recommendation to internal stakeholders on various matters focusing on platform liability, contract terminations, consumer protection, fraud, embezzlement, dispute resolution under existing contract, and other e-commerce legal matters.
- Documentation and Coordination:
Draft and review legal documents, prepare legal opinions and memos, and coordinate with other cross functional teams and external counsel as needed. Tasks also include collaborating closely with the Global Litigation team to ensure smooth coordination on high-value cases and/or if the case escalates to litigation stages.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Licensed to practice law in Indonesia with an advocate license.
- Minimum 5 years of litigation or relevant legal experience, preferably in e-commerce or technology sectors.
- Proficient in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
- Strong knowledge of consumer protection, platform liability, criminal and commercial litigation, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex legal issues.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple cases simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
