Team Intro
USDS Financial Crime Compliance is responsible for overseeing and operationalizing all aspects related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions Compliance activities related to TikTok USDS's operations. Collaborating cross-functionally with stakeholders across the U.S. and global, we address complex and cutting-edge challenges, which include the identification of money-laundering, terrorist financing and sanction violations. We seek a highly motivated, and experienced professional to join our team.

In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.

Position Overview
As a Financial Crimes Compliance Investigator, you will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations across diverse financial crime risk areas such as anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorism financing (CTF), fraud, and sanctions. In this role, you'll navigate through complex issues and emerging trends, all with the expectation of providing actionable recommendations. Beyond investigations, you'll play a crucial role in evaluating and enhancing TikTok USDS' financial crime controls to mitigate risks effectively.

Responsibilities
To effectively address financial crime risks on the platform, responsibilities and assignments may shift across risk domains and may include any of the following activities:
- Independently conduct investigations across a wide variety of financial crime risk domains, including AML, CTF, sanctions, fraud, and demonstrating sound judgment in navigating complex, high-risk cases where decisions may not be immediately clear.
- Thoroughly analyze investigative and intelligence information pertaining to user behavior, know your customer (KYC) information, and transaction history.
- Present investigative findings, risk analyses, and recommended mitigations to internal and external stakeholders through detailed and comprehensive reports, including documentation and preservation of supporting investigation data.
- Recommend and implement policy updates, propose solutions to reduce financial crime risks, identify trends across financial crimes, and collaborate with teammates to enhance compliance procedures and training materials.
- Perform enhanced due diligence reviews, support inquiries from regulators and law enforcement, and undertake additional duties and special projects as needed.
- Develop business and product requirement documents focused on bolstering financial crime risk coverage and optimizing operational efficiencies. Collaborate closely with cross-functional product and technology teams to implement the technology stack and achieve desired enhancements.

Qualifications

- 2+ years experience in investigative roles within financial crimes, AML, sanctions, fraud, risk, or a related field.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, managing short and long-term projects under pressure and within constraints.
- Proficient in US AML and sanctions regulations, adept at collaborating cross-functionally and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
- Excellent research and writing skills, capable of synthesizing and presenting complex information succinctly and handling confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently, handle sensitive matters, and adapt to varied hours for global collaboration, supporting non-financial crimes investigations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with transaction monitoring, sanction screening or KYC technologies, with knowledge of financial crime compliance regulations and methodologies.
- Previous experience working with regulatory agencies or law enforcement in financial crime investigations.
- Experience with SQL and querying of large datasets.
- Technical curiosity and an interest in exploring data, understanding systems, exploring emerging technologies in financial crime detection and prevention.

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $100000 - $183000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
