Head of Public Policy - Australia
Responsibilities
The Global Public Policy & Government Affairs team's work spans across a broad and diverse range of functions and workstreams, including government affairs and government relations, policy and issue area expertise, risk and crisis management and mitigation, outreach, coalitions and partnerships, and corporate social responsibility. The mission of the Global Public Policy & Government Affairs team is to prevent, manage, and mitigate political, legislative, and regulatory risks to TikTok and to promote a political, legislative, and regulatory environment that supports growth and innovation for our business.
Responsibilities
- Develop and nurture relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry bodies, and political figures
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including legal, trust and safety, communications, and product development teams, to shape product development, services, and policies
- Advocate for policy positions that safeguard and benefit the TikTok user community both internally and externally
- Monitor and analyse policy trends, legislative proposals, and relevant issues affecting the company
- Prepare briefing papers, consultation responses, and participate in internal and external policy meetings to articulate our positions
- Implement engagement strategies with policymakers on issues of importance to TikTok and our creator community
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Substantial experience working on relevant, high-profile public policy issues in the AUNZ region.
- Knowledge of the Australian legislative process and political landscape.
- Team leader with experience leading and managing public policy teams.
- Experience managing and leading teams
- A strong team player, capable of effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional communication and analytical skills, capable of distilling and articulating complex policy issues.

Preferred Qualifications
- An established reputation and network of contacts among key decision-makers across government, politics, and civil society.
- Relevant digital policy experience, or experience in a similar media-exposed, issues-rich regulatory environment
- Outstanding judgement, diplomacy, and advocacy skills, along with creativity.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, and uncertain environment.
