Our global product legal team provides key support for all of TikTok's innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global video market. We help our technological and business teams enable their vision by providing integrated legal guidance and support.
The Role
We are looking for a mid-level product or regulatory attorney to work closely with internal stakeholders to provide pragmatic & strategic counsel to product and related business teams. This position provides candidates with a unique opportunity to be part of a growing team, work on cutting-edge issues in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, collaborate with colleagues in product, engineering, compliance, Trust & Safety, security, and policy teams on product issues critical to TikTok's efforts on products and innovations. The ideal candidate would be an experienced product or regulatory attorney who could work closely with internal stakeholders to provide counsel to product, T&S product, and related business team. Responsibilities would also include:
- Counselling product teams on regulatory issues & legal requirements across various subject matters, including minor safety, privacy, generative AI, data protection, and minor safety & protection across markets to identify trends and issues for the company to address.
- Collaborating across multiple business and legal teams to identify, track, and determine roles and responsibilities to address relevant legislation and regulatory matters impacting the business.
- Coordinating with regional counsel and various subject matter expert legal groups to consolidate and globalise legal feedback to the product teams
- Leading global review of new products, product features, and other product-related matters to ensure compliance with social media, privacy and and related legislation and regulations.
- Leading efforts to develop global strategies, standards, and policies for our privacy, minor safety, and related efforts
- Collaborating with other legal and product stakeholders to develop creative solutions for novel, complex issues.
- Coordinating internal communication, projects, and training amongst different teams (including regional legal, various product organisations, and various subject matter expert legal groups).
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Experienced Lawyer with 5+ years experience.
- Experience advising on laws related to minor safety, privacy, consumer protection, and other relevant regulatory requirements-preferably within a multinational company, across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven ability to analyse digital products and features to assess compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Strong documentation, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Highly detail-oriented, with experience coordinating across cross-functional teams and multiple countries.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on work ethic. Capable of working independently and managing multiple, simultaneous projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Resilient and adaptable, with the determination to tackle complex challenges while maintaining a practical and balanced outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience advising on platform liability, privacy, intellectual property, and emerging areas such as generative AI, particularly in the context of digital platforms or tech companies.
- Previous in-house legal experience within an international, matrixed organisation, with demonstrated ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and cross-border considerations.
