Front End Engineer, TikTok Multimedia Arch
Responsibilities
About the Team
The Multimedia Arch Frontend team is responsible for improving user experience and performance on TikTok, either through platform/tooling and innovated project development, or through Tiktok Web Multimedia experience and performance optimizations. Including but not limited to a series of platform development (data platforms, strategy platforms, AI platforms, diagnostic platforms etc), Multimedia Web SDKs, Web Players(VoD & Live), performance optimizations, and WebAI innovations. Joining us, you will design, implement and make an impact on TikTok.
Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with our talented backend, data, algorithm and AI team to develop and ship multimedia related platforms&toolings for Tiktok data, strategies and optimizations.
2. Build world-class frontends, with data visualization for big data, deep web tech stack (Web workers, WebGPU, WebAI etc), combine elegance, performance, reusibility and maintainability;
3. Optimize Tiktok Web Multimedia experience and performance, including but not limited to VoD, Live, Image related multimedia sdks by learning world class multimedia tech and architecture, machine learning strategies.
4. Promote robust and maintainable code, clear documentation, and deliver high-quality work in a rapid environment.
5. Has opportunities to explore and apply the latest and world class frontend tech, multimedia tech, AI tech on a daily work basis.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
1. BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related major.
2. 2+ years of industry experience in a software development environment.
3. Proficiency in Typescript, ES5/6, CSS, and various layouts.
4. Experience in solving CSS/JS multi-browser compatibility problems and front-end performance optimization.
5. Understanding of component-based development ideas, familiarity with React, Angular, Vue.js, or any other equivalent library/framework.
6. Being great team communication and collaboration skills. A strong team player mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Understanding or experience in Multimedia domain, such as working on video related platforms/products, understanding of video codecs, video quality optimization or web media player related is a plus.
2. Good usage of AI tools for development efficiency and has AI or ML related product/working experience is a plus.
3. Having experience of back-end technologies and databases, proficient in golang or BFF development is a plus.
4. Experienced with large data set visualization is a plus.
5. Has a strong entrepreneurial spirit, pays attention to cutting-edge technologies and projects, loves innovation and is capable of coming up with innovative technologies and projects is a plus.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $136800 - $359720 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others.
