Financial Crimes Compliance Data Specialist

About the Team:
Our Global Legal Compliance team provides key support for all of ByteDance's and TikTok's innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global markets. We help our technological and business teams enable their vision by providing integrated legal and compliance guidance and support. The ByteDance and TikTok team are growing fast and is seeking a highly experienced, bright, and capable legal/compliance specialist to join us.
Responsibilities:
- As the team's subject matter expert on data analytics, you will lead cross-functional projects to design and implement data-driven solutions including advanced analytical models that enhance the compliance framework.
- Apply quantitative analysis and data mining techniques to uncover suspicious activity patterns and emerging financial crime risks from large, complex datasets.
- Partner with engineering teams to build and maintain robust data pipelines, ensuring the availability and quality of critical compliance data.
- Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards (e.g., in Tableau, Power BI) to provide leadership with actionable insights into program effectiveness and key risk indicators.
- Conduct or assist in periodic risk assessments to identify gaps and to improve the compliance programs, processes, and procedures.
- Assist with the coordination of regional compliance investigations to ensure appropriate data management and a consistent investigative approach.
- Work collaboratively with regional compliance teams, legal teams, Internal Audit, and other cross-functional stakeholders to advance the compliance program mission.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering) or a related field with significant quantitative experience.
- Strong understanding and practical application of financial crime regulations (AML, sanctions, anti-bribery/corruption), with experience handling complex compliance issues and investigations, including reviewing large data sets and escalating suspicious activities.
- Proficient in analyzing compliance data, developing dashboards, and translating insights into actionable recommendations using tools like SQL, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Excellent project management skills, experienced in leading or supporting cross-functional initiatives across multiple regions or business units.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to engage in global meetings across time zones and travel as necessary.
- Possesses the highest ethical standards, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and implement new skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with a programming language for data analysis, such as Python or R, is a strong plus.
- Works effectively in a fast-paced environment, showing flexibility, teamwork, and adaptability to meet client needs, while anticipating and responding to urgent situations.
- Manages heavy workloads and meets critical deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Proactively identifies and resolves problems, taking the lead on issues and recommending process improvements.
- Possesses an in-depth understanding of client business, industry, and organization, supporting the delivery of products, services, and initiatives.
- Demonstrates creativity in finding solutions and uses sound judgment.
- Able to influence and enlist global support
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $128000 - $240667 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
