Employee Relations Partner - TikTok USDS - San Jose
Responsibilities
Team Intro:
Join our HR team as an Employee Relations Partner. You will join a fast-growing company and help shape our TikTok USDS people experience. This position will be responsible for employee relations matters, advising HR Business Partners and business stakeholders on performance management approaches, appropriate disciplinary actions, and developing our investigative processes.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary ER advisor for complex performance management cases, including documentation strategy, corrective actions, PIPs, and involuntary exits.
- Manage a high-volume ER caseload (30+ active cases), primarily focused on performance, attendance, and conduct matters for both exempt and non-exempt employee populations.
- Partner with HRBPs, People Managers, and Legal to deliver consistent, risk-aligned guidance on employee conduct, documentation quality, and leadership enablement.
- Support development of scalable performance enablement tools, including templates, guidance documents, and manager training programs.
- Monitor ER trends and surface insights to proactively address systemic issues, identify manager enablement opportunities, and reduce risk.
- Support internal investigations during periods of high volume or complexity, in partnership with the Investigations and Legal teams.
- Maintain high-quality ER documentation to support legal defensibility, trend analysis, and case consistency.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of ER policies, SOPs, and governance frameworks.
- Facilitate ER-related trainings and capability-building initiatives for managers and internal HR teams.
- Return-to-Office: In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of corporate Employee Relations or HR Compliance experience, with deep focus on performance management.
- Proven ability to independently manage 30+ ER cases in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Experience supporting both exempt and non-exempt workforces.
- Working knowledge of U.S. labor and employment laws (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA) and practical experience applying them to ER cases.
- Strong written and communication skills with the ability to deliver clear and actionable recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
- High attention to detail and professionalism in managing sensitive matters.
- Experience using ER data and case trends to influence leadership decisions or inform proactive initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years supporting performance-related ER matters in fast-paced and regulated industries (e.g., tech, defense, government, or financial services).
- Experience working with or within government-affiliated entities or compliance-driven environments.
- Experience delivering manager trainings or developing performance management guidance resources.
- Successfully working in ambiguity and adapting to shifting organizational needs.
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or paralegal experience is a plus, but not required.
Job Information
[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $124800 - $228000 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location.
